Remove my cats or replace the header pipe? Will a 2012 fit on a 2009 bike??

My bike is a 2009 and I am considering knocking out the catalytic converters. However I have heard this is a PITA and I would want to remove the pipe to make sure I do it right.

HOWEVER the guy I bought the bike from has offered me a header pipe from a 2012 which he says has no cats and will bolt up without modification. He had planned to do it himself but didn't get around to it.

Thoughts? As far as tuning I have a PC5 and Autotune installed so can make adjustments.

I assume you have slipons. I believe the 08-11 has cats in the stock mufflers too so removing the one from the header would only be half the job.

I guess you're going to remove the 09 header no matter what you do so I'd just do that and see if the 2012 header fits your manifold and mid pipes and all bolt to the bike fitting as they should. I think you will need some kind of gasket material to seal the midpipe connections. The 2012 diameter should be larger than 09. If the 2012 headers fit in the manifold, a new set of header gaskets should seal it.

It's always nice to leave the OEM parts intact for resale. It depends on how much $$ your guy wants for his 12 header too.

I do have slip ons, but I cut off the original mufflers and welded/fabricated adapters to use slip on mufflers. So basically it's the factory piping with slip ons added.

So with that being said I've scratched the resale value. This guy wants $50 for the 2012 header pipes.

06-11 mid pipes won't mate up to the 2012 header...bends are different.
Find a 06-07 header, which has no catalytic converter
You'll have to fiddle with the gaskets from header to mid pipes..there's an 1/8" difference if I remember correctly

I may just take the cats out of what is on there now. I just remembered it took me forever to get the O2 sensor bung welded in where I wanted it, and I don't want to have to do that all over again!
