Has anybody used the handlebar risers from ebay? The price is good but they look different from the GenMars so I'm curious about them.

I have asked this before, but I don't think anyone answered. Will the risers not make the bike lift the front wheel easier under hard acceleration? Are they that much more comfortable when doing long trips?

Genmar and Heli risers, as well as LSL Handlebar conversion kits, have absolutely nothing to do with the front wheel coming off the ground.
I think they help a lot with comfort. I had to use the LSL conversion because they don't come up and back enough, and I have back problems so need to sit up more than back in the day.

Privateer, I think you misunderstood my question. If you lean back and accelerate hard, the laws of physics dictate that the less weight on the front wheel, the easier it will lift. I get very uncomfortable with the stock bar position cause I also got a not so good back, but I don't want to buy something that maybe will not work. I have not seen these advertised in SA and I have also not heard of anyone who has them here. What do they look like? Can anyone post a pic?

Here ya go Harley....Helis...slightly around 5/8" high.Genmars....close to an inch. That's the Heli in between the clip-on and the black top clamp) Ergos with Helis...almost stock but comfy yes (genmar for comparison) Overall cockpit setup with Helis...and here..(this one doesn't show very well..sorry).I've got some back issues as well....L5/S1...with a fusion. But the Helis work extremely well at giving me the right angle for my lower back. You are right about the weight difference.Sitting higher and back farther will unload the front end(somewhat). The Helis give me my sportbike ergos and steering feel more than the genmars, but both will work very well for straightening your spine while riding. The Helis are a very good compromise between full on leaning in,and being somewhat more upright. If your back is TOO painful leaning, you can always go with BOTH risers on there.I did,for a season or two. They will both fit together with no issues.
I forgot to mention...I'm 6'1"...and surprisingly, the reach to the bars at stock hardware was not comfortable for the long haul. This setup works really well for me.

Interesting point, harley, and blue is right.
If you change your riding position so your weight is less on the front end, it will lift more under acceleration.
This past weekend, I rode with the club with sidecases and topcase fairly full of cloths and rain gear and some sneakers, etc. And when I'd get it going from second to third the front tire would momentarily lift off the pavement
even with me laying forward on the tank.
It would skip without the tail weight, but nothing like it was doing with the luggage on and full.

jetson - they're basically the same thing. You shouldn't have a problem with either. I have Genmars on mine and they work well. I don't notice a huge difference between stock and the risers, but then, we're only talking mere inches here anyway.

I went out for a 250 mile ride Sunday morning and by the time I got home I my wrist was really talking to me! If the rise makes any difference it will be appreciated.
Now I need to find the right replacement saddle and she'll be perfect for me. I looked at all the posts on here and there doesn't seem to be a clear consensus as to what the best one is. I like the price and look of the Sargent modular, but being 6'1" with a 35" inseam, I don't know if The high or low saddle would be the best.
Thoughts?

I am looking to get a different seat as well. took a look at the seargent modular and also the concours stock seat. dont like the fact that with the concours seat you cant use the stock rear cowl, but people seem to love its comfort. I was thinking of getting the concours seat and having the rear foam reworked so the cowl would fit but.... how much $$$$$ would it take ? by the way I have the heli-bar risers and they helped alot, I still might try the old double stack ( gen-mar risers on bottom, heli-bar risers on top. being over 6feet you might want to stay with the stock seat height so you dont end up with leg cramps.

Hey I just put some on my 14 2 days ago. I bought them off ebay not sure what the name was but I'll find out. Mine are 1 inch tall. I had them machined out on the top because my bike's lowered so the fork tube would go thru them. I'll get a pic of them. I bought the $99 ones because of the powdercoat match. They look great! 1 inch makes a hellva difference on how it sits and rides.

Sorry to revive an old post. But I saw these on Ebay too. They are listed for $59.95. They don't look exactly like the GenMars but are 1".
They only show black ones and don't talk about color choices (black or machined aluminum, etc).
My question, probably a dumb one, but the GenMars say 1" higher and 5/8" further back. The ones on Ebay just say 1" rise. My thinking is the 5/8" comes simply from the rearward angle. Are the GenMars somehow angled?
Matthew488 has done a double GenMar install. Other than requiring a new brakeline it works well. I'm going for that too so saving $30 per set would pay for (most of) the new longer brake line.

I bought the same risers from the same ebay site "redlunaracing". Great quality if you didn't know you'd think they were OEM. I'm 5'10" and have short arms for my height so they make a big difference to my comfort levels on longer rides, much less fatiguing to the back and arms. My throttle cables just touch one of the screen mounting screws on full lock really not an issue. Every thing else clears well. Very happy with them.
