Anyone out there ever wire up a DG8 unit. They didn't have any plug-n-plays so I ordered the kit you have to solder. After many hours I figured out which wires to connect where. All connections were at the modular plug which goes into the speedo/tach unit. But I can't get it to program.
That's all I can say for now. If anyone has been through mounting a DG8 we can talk in more detail.

Notice how the bikes use the same wire colors for the bikes. As the years continue, they remain basically the same color key patterns. So you have how many wires? Ground is one. Hot is another. Gear is one color. Tach is one color or you can use a spark wire or the tone wheel wire off the crank sensor?

Where are they saying to go with what wire if I have at least 3 or 4 eliminated so far. How many wires total?

sharkey, I installed 1 of those on my 9 last yr. the harnesses are prob the same since most devices ive seen like speedo healer will work on both the 9 & 14. I dont remember having trouble with the progrming, are you putting the bike on a rear stand for testing purposes? If you like i could go out and see the wires that are connected and compare notes. If i remember correctly there is like an orange wire that is only used for programming the it is just there not connected. memory a lil shakey lol but im sure it will come back to me when i go out and look at it. Let me know

They don't make a prefab harness for the 14, so I got a handfull of wires in one hand and the wires going into the speedo/tach unit. I have to solder the connections. The Mfg does have a table on their website showing connections on other models and the ZX10 has mostly the same connections, except the Tach has two wires for its signal. So I went to the crank sensor. I'm getting a 2.68 V constant signal from that sensor. Still no worky.
I contacted the MFG in UK and he told me to do the same. I've sent him the wiring diagram of the 14 and he's supposed to e-mail me some suggestions.
Basically the unit will go into learning mode but it will not learn. The blinking 1 is supposed to become a 2 when it's time to "learn" 2nd gear. It just remains a blinking 1.
My logical mind says...Two possibilities. 1.) One or more connections are not correct. 2.) The unit is faulty. I'm starting to lean twoards #2.
If the factory rep has no valid suggestions I'm going to make a suggestion to him...
This is really frustrating!

That's the Acumen factory rep I'm talking about scott. He hasn't gotten back to me yet either.
I'm adding an Ivan tre006a to the system cause I want to eliminate the accelleration jerk when rolling throttle back on. Installing that unit does that (although not perfectly) as well as eliminates the little bit of backfiring which remains after blocking the PAIR system. It also causes the loss of the gear readout on your LCD screen.
Scott did you say you have one installed on your 14? I get the feeling these guys have not seen this problem on a 14 before. I couldn't be the first one to try to install one on a 14 could I? Or the first one to complain?

sharkey , no installed it on my 9 but im pretty sure the wiring is the same on the 2 bikes i could be wrong though lol

I looked up some wiring tables and found that the ZX10 has the same colors to each device as the 14. The ZX9 is slightly different. Like Hub says...they're all the same only different!
