Curious how many zx14r riders use clutchless upshifting in day to day riding. I have been doing it the past few months and it seems to produce much quieter up shifts even when not pushing the bike that hard. I have a 2018 zx14rSE.

I had a conversation with Ron and Kevin from Blais Cycles in South florida and they warned me not to use the clutch when upshifting at high speeds , it would slowly detroy fibers on the clutch ... they said.

That makes sense. The engine gets slowed down a few hundred rpm by the transmission when you shift up. Disengaging and then engaging the clutch must result in a reasonable amount of slippage between the plates when the engine is turning fast.

Ron and Kevin are correct. No spin load, no wear. But grabbing gear with lever is a no-no. You just keep practicing slow and fast shifting. It's all about timing, and I work on it because I'm so-so at it. That in motion, so as soon as you lift it's instant to the next gear. It's all about unloading going up, and timing going down.
I do not shift down each gear. All gears are collected before I touch the white line to stop. Lever is held out to the last second or so. It's the same exact as Ron/Kev would agree with I thing. Rev and catch some timing on the downshift, but really you are skimming material off it once those plates release, and you feed power on those collapsing plates.
I had a video eye catcher once I looped back home. Hugging the cement barrier is going around a sharp J curve, but it's.., if motion moves, then moves in a straight line... the video proves it.
Oh yeah, the throttle hunting is over. You are committed to that gear for who knows how long, you know this bike is taking up territory quick.
If I pull the lever, it's just enough to break it, not all the way to the grip to shift. Don't know WOT the group's lever habits are, but it's to save 2nd gear if I'm going to step it up. But low rpm, not so much, but I better be 100% in the centration no matter what gear.
Been doing this since new. Last oil change and filter dissection, I've never seen a cleaner set of pleats. Not seeing transmission chips fall where they may?
