"Loud pipes save lives"...all BS...loud pipes draw attention....that's about all...besides create noise pollution and painful eardrum damage;)

But in all fairness...lots of people LOVE the FEEL of a Harley...it FEELS big and safe...solid(albiet vibrations)."Big" rumbling motor...clunky shifting feel...all that.The perception of size and bulk really appeals to lots of folks.Whereas...us guys...who ride bikes like ours...we want something totally different out of our rides.Lighter...quicker...nimbler.Performance.That's one reason we CAN wave to others...we aren't in it for the look...we simply enjoy two wheels...the bike isn't 'us'.It's THE badass bike...but we already feel good about ourselves;)Waving is a reaction to how we feel about US.Not what we ride.

Funny, the talk about all the Harley $hit people buy. Used to joke about it, but one of my friends in-laws literally bought everything with HD on it they could find, old oil cans, lights,... underwear and toilet paper, I $hit you not. (sorry, couldnt help it)

I am not a person to buy into anything, maybe that makes me a rebel LOL, I own a Yamaha, Honda, and Kawasaki and I think I own 1 Honda shirt, because my dad made it for me years ago.

That is the one thing that does burn me up is the "I bought a Harley and all new friends" mentality. I ride because I love to RIDE, not idle to the bar and home.

Sorry, everyone is different but I am just not a sheeple.

Ok guys let's dial it back a notch. It's feeling a little hateful in here and I'm not about that. Let's just say these two groups of riders agree to disagree and let it go. We all know of some D-Bag sport bike riders as well who give us a bad name just like the Harley riders do. The truth is that we all share a love for our two wheel machines and this common bond should keep us on the same page. Stay sharp and be safe out there guys.

No harm intended here...I truly smile when I pass a Harley or wave and they don't wave back...whatever...hell,I owned two harleys.They're okay for what they are;)

No malice intended on my part. I have friends that ride Harley. one of my longest friends (20+ years) has one. I even rode it (ick LOL JK)

But you can paint most of them with a broad brush, same thing for Goldwing riders, and sport bike riders. Like I said, most, not all.

I wave at everyone, even people on scooters and I ride anything I can get a leg over, especially if they are cute :)

Passed one today actually...lofted my bird a couple of times oncoming just to say "Hi"...he waved....very cool;)

Dew rag- able to overcome three "normal" men

Dew rag and Harley vest- stomp the ass of at least 6 men

Dew rag, vest, and chaps, with long hair and throw in a cocky attitude- able to overcome and defeat an entire bar full of grown men

So there is s direct correlation/positive relationship between the amount of Harley attire they wear, and how bad they are.

If they are somewhat "decked out", approach with caution. If they are dressed to the nines, avoid at all costs!!!

Yea not trying to "hate" on anybody, I just get tired of alot of the harley riders. Like my brother, he bought a v-rod and now he wears boots with a vest and a chrome halfshell helmet with shades and looks "cool" now when he rides. Yet he grew up on a R6 then an R1. I don;t mind the bikes themselves, it's the riders.

Ok guys, this is all in fun and games.
Top 10 reasons harley riders don't wave back.
10. Afraid it will invalidate warranty.
9. Leather and studs make it too heavy to raise arm.
8. Refuse to wave to anyone whose bike is already paid for.
7. Afraid to let go of handlebars because they might vibrate off.
6. Rushing wind would blow scabs off the new tattoos.
5. Angry because just took out second mortgage to pay luxury tax on new Harley.
4. Just discovered the fine print in owner's manual and realized H-D is partially owned by Honda.
3. Can't tell if other riders are waving or just reaching to cover their ears like everyone else.
2. Remembers the last time a Harley rider waved back, he impaled his hand on spiked helmet.
1. They're too tired from spending hours polishing all that chrome to lift their arms.

I was even contemplating getting a V Rod before I got the BMW s1000

But what I find assanine is the cocky 1% "I am a badass/fear me" type who try to intimidate people with a bullshit image

but the same way a half-dozen Harley riders can stop the shit out of you, so can half a dozen golfers or chess players. Lol

Its kinda weird, I love the zx14, but there is something cool about a Harley too. They are actually pretty maneuverable at slower speeds. After all its all about what ever floats your boat in the end. If I could afford it I might have a road king or V-Rod in the garage next to my 14. The V-Rods sound pretty mean and at least their liquid cooled.

zx14rider.....you're definately right, they are very manueverable. Hav ya'll ever watched one of the police traning courses? I watch them in person and it's pretty cool. we could never even attempt a thing like that on our bikes.

that link should work. My dad has to change his foot boards every few months because they become razor sharp from scraping the ground.

The VRod is the performance bike of their line but I think its peak hp is 125 and 85 ft lbs of torque. But keep in mind the log weighs 635 lbs. I just came from looking at one (again lol) just for something to do as the dealer is near my house

Pretty sharp bike but I'd I ever, for whatever misguided reason, got a cruiser, it would be, hands down, a Ducati Diavel. Makes the VRod look pale in comparison. Imo

I have ridden a road glide before. Comfortable bike, but not fun to ride!

If I were going to get a cruiser, I'd go with a Rocket III.

Well, there is one "harley" I wouldn't mind riding ....

I went down the qtr 5 times against a Harley Destroyer on my 06 14 with nothing but pipes and a PC. Beat it every time. The guy couldn't ride it very well, but....C'mon Man!

Built Harleys are the Motorcycle worlds equivalent to the Drag cars and such.They do that well...but that aint no Ninja;)

No.. No.. No.. Complete one off, every piece custom, absolutely nothing left that came from Harley bikes will go fast. A Harley with a built motor is still a pig.

My buddy has a Harley that I work on most of the time, rode it and its just not for me, lots of noise and no go but street cred, wow they waved like they knew me until I got back on my 14 and went passed the same guys and nothin but a quick look, LMAO I wish they knew it was the same dude they just waved at. But I have alot of friends that are really cool dudes tha would help anybody out on 2 wheels and they ride nothin but Harley, so I dare not judge any of them just take it for what it is when they wave or not.

I get a wave from every sportbike, obviously, but a few Harley riders won't wave back. Most do, but a few don't.

But I still continue to wave at everyone.

What I don't get are the (sometimes hot) women who seem to seek out even the dirtiest Harley riders.

Must be the bad boy thing they are after. LOL
