calling all TRE-008 owners
04/10/09 5:45 AM

I'm my own worst enemy, I swear. I've over thought this to the Nth degree.

I called Ivan yesterday with credit card in hand for an Akra 4 into 1, PCIII and TRE-008 and he said he has NO map for flies out (I was shocked) and tried to talk me into pulling them. But there's just "something" about pulling them out that I don't want to do. I know the gains I'll get, but I don't really need more power to get me into more trouble.
So I'm back to thinking about a simple slipon (Ti-Force high mount), PCIII, maybe from Fuelmoto (preloaded with flies in map) and TRE-008.

1. For those with a "06 or "07 with a TRE-008, what is your experience? Easy install?
2. What have you noticed for performance gains down low?
3. What combination of pipes/PCIII are you running?

Thanks for your input in advance.

1. For those with a "06 or "07 with a TRE-008, what is your experience? Easy install?
2. What have you noticed for performance gains down low?
3. What combination of pipes/PCIII are you running?

1. From '06 to '09 no other ignition system is used. Therefore any generic tre will work and if using Ivan's kit, it just plugs in without need of solder and other wire type repair tools. So, yes, with Ivan's setup, it is easy to install.

2. I have noticed a drop in performance because it defaults to a backup or the bike feels more limp mode now. Does it feel different? Yes. Because she runs too fat and bogs or lags. So does it retard the timing? I guess it must, because I sure am not about to lose my drive reading who was the tail light manufacturer of that MB I was playing with. If I were in that limp mode, no way could I do that much damage to that guy is he pulled over to let me pass he was mentally out of gas.
A. Note: I am also in a backup limp being I have the subs locked open, and the actuator disconnected. So, yes, limp I am ign/fuel weak.
B. DANGER NOTE: Once the N is in play, your safety lockout is do not touch the starter button sitting dead on the side stand > Dump Diddly Dumb Dump = Bang-Boom!
C. Note: <<< Well, more like a couple of C-notes to repair if you forget the bike is in gear. You begin to warm up the glove up. hit the starter and she chunk-chunks on the starter motor - crank - trans - Moves - Crash of the side stand it! Can you stand it? The mod that is.
D. Note the Edit: I stand corrected. We have safety measures that will not start on a dead engine with stand down. I was more stalled at a light, hit the starter button with bike in gear and clutch out was N in the window and she lunged forward. Lose footing is the same as correction to C is what my experience was is the N can combo that combination I had and down you go if you do not remember is remember that mod of the N.

3. No PC. No Pipe. Stock is my ride (cough cough-ah hummmmm, whack) Is clear my throat.

Overall, what is with this calling out all 008 tears. Yes, there is that mode switch I guess they pipe that sub to move on the super fly song is she has that limp feel to it. It may feel low grunt sporty to you. But for real is she limps slower the more you hack it. "I do and I do not like" the 006/008 combo you speak about. Yes, it has a slight level of diminishing returns.
Stock, she returns to what this bike is suppose to feel like. And because I am not alone. If the hack was so good, why do some sell their tre'zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz? Why do I leave mine off more than on?

I have a TRE on my 07 with fly's out and my engine Does Not backfire/pop at 3500 when I let off the throttle.
My engine does Not bog nor does it run Slower as I have played on the high way with a 08 bone stock and have used him as a gauge on how my bike runs. After the M14 exhaust and map we hit at 60 MPH in second gear and pulled him several bikes every time I shifted and we were both stock gears then. I hated the popping and installed a TRE from Ivans,
the Popping is GONE and raced the stock 08 again and same out come. I have been playing with fast bikes for 30 years
worked at a exhaust Mfg. so I am no stranger to performance mod's. Have a rolling dyno :-) on the hiway is the Test.
6th gear roll on's at 70 the same thing the 08 stock Zx-14 is looking at my tail lights. Hub if you have a ZX-14
with stock exhaust I will spank you in any straight line contest, been there done that or I would Not have spent my hard earned money.

My muffler bearing pre-eats any sausage bending you have on your exhaust studs to passenger peg mount. Puddles eats "Linears" for lunch.

All you need is a rope.

Hub, you seem like you have a lot of knowledge but is sure is hard to dig thru all the comentary and
get to the real answer of a question. You Think Stock is Best( I think... :-) you are not clear on your replys) Ok that's you'r opinion, but Best for what?

I have read about Drag Races chaseing a 10th of a second and the TRE cost them so small loss in ET... I ride
on the street 99% of the time and I only lower and extend the wheel base two or three times a year. I was making a statement that what the TRE Does Do.fact. What I posted is a Fact, not some youg man wishing he had a ZX-14.

Explain B in more simple terms.......type slower.

Rotty Help me here???

Wash data out a call out ???

Puddles eats " Linear" for lunch ???

The piss pic??

Rope.Oh I got that one and don't think I will be hanging my self, don't need it... if you keep useing bailing wire on you bike you will need the rope to pull it home with...... :-)

Just havina little fun with u as you do Not speak/type clear english

Explain B in more simple terms.......type slower. If you have the N locked with the tre: No matter the gear, she will start with kicker up or kicker down.
N = Danger: Do not start on side stand = Safety lockout is looped and can start in gear(s) is pick one.
N = Danger: Do not think you are safe in gear with side stand up where you hit the starter button and thought you were in neutral seeing the green light.
Would you like a how-to as what functions happen is just ask. Takes less than a minute of look and I will just add the sausage music in slow moe.

Puddles eats " Linears" for lunch ???
Yes, it is almost lunch time. If you are on a 14 with your redundant hack "Oh6Ho8" lining up to the same bike with the same results and a 10th off is a, Linear.

The piss pic?? That was the part where you brought the sausage as your sword, but did you bring your balls to back it up?

Rope. Oh I got that one and don't think I will be hanging my self, don't need it... Excuse me? The symbol is if you are going to piss the Linear, you then can go "piss up a rope." You can hang yourself after I do the redundant on you. You!

Just havina little fun with u as you do Not speak/type clear english I hope so. I want you to have fun like Masszx using that wet rope to hang, "Z-Puddle Myself and > Eye" 2 am having fun on every post. Some people say, have about 36 websites that just become too anal retentive about all they read. Some are laughing it up. I just keep it going is they see some weird type and there ya go! Fun over.

I speak FSM is my problem. The rest of you speak english... No wonder we are not on the same page is.

I run the TRE 006A And I LOVE it (N) No more backfire yaaaaa. Lab if you got your TRE from Ivan (as I did) Then you must also be running the same TRE as I am ?(flies out)The TRE 008 is for faster opening flies. So to help out gumbybob, if he now installs slipons and uses the tre008 he will also have the 3500rpm Backfire when the ECU turns the fuel back on. Right ? Gumbybob I was just wondering from your thread if you are saying " I don't really need more power to get me into more trouble" Why are you going this route ?

Romans, I'm looking for looks and sound but if performance comes with that....all the better. But I didn't want to do the flies myself. Not quite confident enough with myself. Thanks to my Busa riding buddy, Mike, he hooked me up with a Kawi shop that has done the flies out/pipe/PCIII on the owner's bike and one other for a customer. Now, the owner of the shop is also the lead mechanic and the one that will do work on my bike. How cool is that? The owner of a dealership is the lead mechanic (kind of like a chef-owned resturaunt....you can figure the food will be great). And, of course, I coud NOT resist the temtation to do it RIGHT. Since I have confidence he can do the job right after talking with him, I'm having an Akra 4 into 1 CF hex can (ala ROMANS), PCIII, flies OUT and a custom tune on their dyno since there's no map on the dynotune site for that pipe. They said I won't need a TRE-008 with the custom mapping they will do. The parts are ordered and the bike will be in there within a week. DONE.
Now I don't have to torture myself any more with which way to go.

PS
And now my Busa buddy, Mikey, will NOT be bitch slapping me in top gear roll-ons any more.
PERIOD.

Go Up one tooth on rear sprocket and you will Spank the Busa if he is still stock geared.
After the chain streached out completely you can go Up 2 on the rear. Makes roll on contests
in 2nd thru 6th gear a lot faster. But 1st gear is Really hard to keep the front tire on the ground.
:-) Do go up 1 on rear the stock will fit when new.

Gumbybob "performance comes with that....all the better". so it begins ... When you get use to your new found power .....in about a day or so .... The gear thing is the next best CHEAP kick in the pants. Lab3 has got the next # spot on, but please remember that you will not get a 43 Rear sprocket on until your chain marker has reached the third bar.

So the stock on the back is 41 tooth?
If so....a 42 tooth is calling my name.

Yes.... Just one tooth in the rear for high gear roll on's helps more than a pipe for this,,,, Really. I assure you

you will be Suprised at how much quicker your 14 will pull in high gear with a stock geared Busa and the Busa has the same mod's as you and you both weigh the same, you will Spank him. Count how many rear teeth he has and see if he has done this and not said anything. Some people change the front to 1 tooth smaller as it is like going almost 2 up on rear.

But I do not like the smaller front sprocket as it bends the chain more and you loose chain life some. And the nut that
holds on the front sprocket can be a PIA to remove with out a Good air impact. Post what happens before and after the new
rear sprocket.
