Flame Graphics on the 2012/2013
04/25/13 8:38 AM

I bought a set of lower belly fairing flames...they come in TWO 'sets'...an upper, and a lower.I got the upper ones.I installed last night. They turned out very good.I used mild soap and water to spray the areas first(after cleaning well)...then set them.Moving them as they needed. The one on the left side....I took scissors and cut off the 'surrounding'clear 'decal' part. The left one I kept stock.Okay...with both on there...they actually look as if they've been clearcoated. The decals are that thin. You can't see a sharp line around either one like they were just stuck on there. They appear just like the ones on my 2012...IDK if those were actually clearcoated or not...these look the same surface-wise.

This really is an experiment...I went with what I read about installing other decals on surfaces.I will say...cutting away the 'outline' clear part or the decal may not be the correct way to install THESE on this bike(I won't be doing that with the next ones). They worked...and are holding...for now.IDK IF the soap solution was a good idea or a bad one...I can't tell at this point. They look fine...

Anyone have any experience with these Kawasaki Graphics for these bikes? There were no instructions...I just winged it really. And went with the instructions for applying graphics to painted surfaces on bikes. No credit card though...to smooth out the bubbles...there virtually were no bubbles...Using the water that is.I used my hand and fingers to smooth out the imperfections...it worked fine...but I don't know IF these will stay on there?Anyone KNOW if I did this right or wrong?

One of the flames tines had lifted overnight.I cleaned behind it(the fairing) with alcohol, reset it,and then took a hair dryer and warmed up the glue to help it stick. Will this work? Thanks all....I'm planning on doing the rest of the flame graphics as soon as they get here...just on the nose and the tank/tank cover.I don't want to mess these up.Thanks for your help in this;)

I went out just a bit ago and warmed the decals with the hairdryer again...just to see if it would help the adhesive bond to the plastic.I didn't get it hot...just warmed em.They seem to be okay....will the adhesive 'bond' over time?Anyone know? They weren't lifting off the fairing...But I still think there may be a superthin film of 'moisture' under there....anyone know?

Here with the flash going...you can see the 'clear decal' outline on this right one...however...the outline is invisible without that flash on it.It's adhesive that is running along the edge...I think it will clean off with some gentle wiping over time. But you can't see it with the naked eye...just looking at it in the ambient light.

They look great !!! Of course I am biased. What made you decide to use the decals ??

I had em on my 2012...thought they looked good.I don't think the soapy water thing was okay though...these ones here...they peeled off(with me pulling them)...gonna have to install the new set dry I think.Either that or have a pro install em;)Live and learn I guess.
