I'm leaving Western Maryland and headed to Eurkea Springs, Arkansas for the National this coming Friday. It will take me 3 days each way, so I will be out for about 2 weeks.

Starting to go over my list of what to pack. Want to have the liner bags packed by Thursday morning.

Wonder what I'll forget this time, lol.

Made it to Mayfield KY, so tomorrow Eureka Springs, AR.

I made my first stop way to short, this Connie can eat up a lot of asphalt in 5 hours. My Rostra cruise control is a big help.

Out on slab or uninterrupted State roads, with Rostra engaged, I can turn on ECO mode and the mpg and range are much higher.

I am so glad I switched to a C14, because loaded with side and top cases full and heavy, she is about as neutral in balance and handling as can be.

Well, guess I'll wait for a pizza delivery, this Super 8 doesn't even have an ATM lol.

Unfortunately, not. I suspect this area's idea of a hot time is something that comes out of a microwave oven.

In Eureka Springs. Long ride today to get here. The ran like a even though hauling a lot of ...

Seriously, the C14 is so well balanced and neutral when hauling loaded cases that riding the winding ascent into the Ozark mountain of NW Arkansas was not only effortless but also very fun.

And she did the 1,200 miles to get here without even breathing hard.

Yesterday 6 of us rode for about 7 hours and touched 4 states.

The motto of the rally is "No Bad Roads" which came about partly because last year's National in Vermont was marred by too many bad roads.

It was right on 1,150 miles to get here, so the total trip counting daily riding will be over 3,000 miles.

And the roads... Are sweet. A mix of tight technical 1st and 2nd gear stuff with a whole lot of fresh asphalt winding throughout the area.

Gotta go will be time to assemble again soon.

On my way home now. I'm spending the night in Murray Kentucky. Tomorrow I will ride all the way to Charleston WV, and then Monday a fairly short ride home.

Pictures soon as I can get them uploaded from the camera and my phone.

Pictures over in Ride Reports, nearly same title. What a trip! May even rival my Western Europe trip in 1991 (England, Belgium, Holland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain) for fun roads. In fact, I think the roads actually were better!

NW Arkansas : all fresh asphalt, smooth as a baby's butt, in a mountain range, around lakes, across rivers, through forests, every possible type of turn you could think off, including some (like the linked switchback esses of Pea Ridge Military Reservation) that were technical enough to make you sweat even if it had been freezing out.

And the weather, OMG it was clear, sunny, with a light breeze for 5 days of riding heaven.

I didn't want to leave!
