Cars / Trucks

Took the 14 out today which is rare but still cannot understand why cars or trucks that are traveling 80 to 90 on the hiway and the bike passes them that they want to pass you back. Big Tahoe running 80 and the 14 has been cruising between 80/90 mph so pass the Tahoe then the Tahoe has to do a fly bye. I crank the bike a little and per my speedo we are doing around 115 mph so after a bit I crank a little harder to pull up to their passenger window and motion for him to please go a little faster then slow down and pull behind them again.

Dirty butthead pulled into the middle lane and slowed down.

They might be hoping you'll put a show on for them but if you have a loud exhaust, they might be trying to escape listening to it. Be wary of road rage. I always looked over in the other vehicle to see if the driver looked pissed off or happy.

Mr Rook my sppeed on the hiway is make a little better time to my destination. Average cage speed is around 80 so I am a little faster but less than 100. When I pass or get passed I am always looking to see if they are playing on the fone or what ever else they may be doing. If I get passed that means they are lead person and follow at a distance BUT some of them just want to play.
Yes the 14 is a little loud or maybe more than a little but when I was riding in Illinois yesterday I also had a Camaro LT (6 cyl) trying to beat me to the bridge exit for the fun corner and it was so funny watching them staying ahead of me that I let them go on. I dropped way back so the fools would slow down on the exit corner because screw up there it is over the railing and a drop to the hiway below. There is also a concrete wall that the railing sits on but there has been an over the wall accident at leasst once that I can remember.
What can I say other than I am an old man who wants to still feel young every now and then.

Same here, Bobby. and you're right, you follow someone too close and it can get the competition going, even more so on a bike. I turned behind a guy on a Harley bagger going up the freeway ramp corkscrew one time. He ended up taking it too fast and his massive outrigger footpeg hit the wall. That lifted that whole 900 lb Harley right off the ground. Lucky he didn't go down. I think it's best to keep the pressure off especially if you don't know how competitive that other person is. ...but it was hard to resist sometimes especially if it's a fast vehicle.

Sounds like typical stupid American. Most likely this was probably a Harley owner who isn't going to stand being passed by a rice rocket.

If I'm in that situation, I will never let them back by because of the road rage factor.

Sounds like my daily driving up here in NoCo. Between the "compensation" trucks, HD riders, and college brats, everyone seems to think its perpetually race day - which makes me laugh! I'm on a cruise missile with training wheels here.

I had a HD bagger trying to tail me through one of our canyons the other day. I bet he thought he was King of the Baggers. uh - nope. I toyed with him through every straight, lost him on every corner, and when id let him get close *poof* away id go.

I'm THIIIIIISSSS close to getting a plate frame that says: "you wanna race" "Don T. Beakunt"

Do these bags make my ass look fast?
