Won't Start. Oil Light. Help?
06/04/13 5:49 AM
Hey everyone,
I was asked to wire up some lights to my friend's 2012 ZX14r. No problem, I have done it before and it worked just fine. He just wanted another strip in the system. I disconnected the battery, ran the new light, reconnected it and now problems. The bike loads up like normal, but when you hit the starter it sounds like it's turning over but won't start. The 'oil pressure warning indicator light' on the dash stays on as well. I have read through the service manual and tried every remedy I can think of, but nothing has worked. Please help! He's on my case to give it back and I'm worried what a dealer will do to my wallet to fix it. Thank you all!

did you check the connection to the fuel pump for any loose connections, if you removed the tank that is, but sounds like a loose connector somewhere, where did you mount the strip?

I will check into the fuel pump when I get home tonight. The light strips are wired into a switch with a fuse to prevent excessive power draws. I did not remove the fuel tank until after this problem first started (Once it wouldn't start, I lifted up the tank to check the main fuses, but did not disconnect or remove anything).

Oh, main fuse. Me troll for me bad. I would remove whatever you did. This is where you wired into the bike's switch?

A remote switch? And where is the (+) side of the wire taken from the bike?

Here is the lights diagram. I have disconnected them from the battery since the problem first began, hoping there was just a problem with my system. Unfortunately the problem remains. As well, this circuit was working with the bike running not a week ago, but I needed to replace one of the LED strips and when I hooked it back up the problem started. Thank you so much for your help by the way, I really appreciate it.
