I'm with Rook on this one, "I wish". I'm not able to now, but making a mile run is on my bucket list.

Unless you live in Denver don't even bother, your bike will run like shit up here. My stock 14R will hardly power wheelie in 1st, it's pathetic.

You get at least 3 or 4 runs/day. Slap a WB2 in there. Set target AFR to 13.5~13.7. First run, shift up to 6 WAYYY early like in the first 50 feet, open throttle to 100% 3000 rpm or lower-- you'll get at least 160 mph. Cut throttle to 0% (let go of it -let it spring shut), Accept trims, do again two more times, done. You should get a little higher speed each time. Then, zero out the target AFR up to whatever rpm you have tuned (say 9000 rpm). that will be your shift point (or a bit lower to make sure you don't miss any cells in the map). Now use your tuned zone to shift hard. 6th gear, WOT all the way up to as fast as you can go. cut throttle, accept trims. Do aain two more times. The whole map should be done. You might need more than just three runs to get a perfect AFR at that altitude. Hopefully by day 2 you would have it so you could focus on shifting and aeros. I'll bet you would at least get 190. 200 has been done there on a zx-14. Save the map for next time. Maybe a little more tuning if your not running a consistent AFR which you could check with a data logger if you want to get into it that much.

Yeah, you're about a mile above sea level--I'm sure that kills power. There is a half mile run not too far from me, but I'd much rather do the mile run, but at the very least, I'd need to change my rear tire to a properly rated tire. I current run the Shinko Hook-up and I wouldn't trust that tire for a mile run.

Skewed.. Tires must be rated for speed as per MILE rules.. I have been to the Mojave mile and they were very concerned about tires.

Bunz.. I ran the Mojave magnum last year.. Mile and half..waay too long :) Had to make five graduated runs to qualify for 200 plus mph run ( I messed up on a couple )and when I finally qualified to run 200 plus, I forgot to shift outta 5th into 6th LOl..Was having VERY difficult time seeing flags at speed trap.. ran 192.4 for about 12 seconds at the end..

Rook.. I am a simple guy. I just change gears and run and have fun..Not what you would call a "serious" kinda racer.
I have reached 151 mph in hte quarter so think I can top out in a mile ok..;)

Auron. Our twisty runs here close by, reach 6000 ft. from my location of 965 ft. and teh 14 seems to handle it well, altho like I told Rook, I am a simple guy and may not even know the difference :)

Here is my video from final run at Mojave Magnum.

Mojave Magnum Oct 2016

Thae Airport authorities asked for us to launch easy so as not to leave debris etc on runway.. The officials repeated their request so noone blated off..or did drag strip starts. anyway. we had to do a run not exceeding 165 then 165 to 185 ( I think) then 185 to 200..Each time we had to report bback to tech to get licensing upgrade. I had one heck of a time spotting the speed trap and backed out too soon on two runs which is why I had extra qualifying runs. I finally got a Class A license good for 220 mph and the bike teched to match then was so excited that I forgot to shift into 6th gear.. look at the video to see how long I was wide open in 5th..Kept bumping revlimiter but I was so concerned about over running the shutoff area that I did not realize I had stayed in 5th gear. Shortly after this run, a motorcycle rider went off the end of the course and the track was shut down for an hour as he was stabilized and airflighted to hospital. LOTS of broken bones, concussed, etc. He lived but was really broken up ..Evidently I was not the only one having a hard time seeing markers.
By now it was after 3 pm and even tho I had signed up for Sat and Sunday, I decided to head for home..Thinking about riding a 14 into the desert at 200 mph caused me to do a lot of thinking.. There were also tree of three redlites somewhere passed the speed traps but I missed tho also..I just figured I needed to relax a bit before making more runs..
Now looking at teh Colorado Mile setup, I have no doubt that I could see their markers and they are at 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and of course the speed trap at the Mile.. Much nicer setup, in my opinion.
Soooooo looking forward to Sept :)

Yes, shifting at 10k but if you were tuning, you would be doing the whole run in 6th gear. You'd loose a lot of acceleration if you shifted up into 6th gear at 40 mph and then went WOT all the way to the end. Looks like I still hit 155 in less than a mile doing that but I don't know if I could get much more than 160. That's why you'd have to tune the top rpms separately from the low and midrange...if you were interested in tuning. I don't blame you for not being interested in tuning (takes your attention off the riding experience) but you will if get seriously into LSR.

Chrly I was running the stock gearing front and rear , it was crazy hot and we had a headwind all weekend , I recorded around 25 runs 17 bn over 174. stock gearing got me almost at red line in 6th gear as I passed the mile marker, im 6'6" so getting tucked is an issue. I had a few bad runs , missed shifts. the guys that were doing 200+ say you need to stick $ into a stock motor to get 200 or use nitrous, turbo etc , I hope u enjoy and have as much fun as I did .

Not if the starting line is on top of the mountain and you're running down hill.

Be the best fucking mile ever !!!!

Bunz, I do have a slight advantage (pun intended) 5'5" and presently 120 1/2 #s soaking wet. I have to look up to see over the instruments :) I am taking gearing changes with me..I am thinking I can pull at least the 17/40 combo.
Silly question ..but.. Have you had your ecu flashed?

Rook.. think you may be sick ;)

David.. being serious about stuff can put you in an early grave ..

Bad, they DO have some hills in Colorado that would be a possibility :)
