Torque hauling me back to a 14
12/23/20 4:12 AM

Gday from the land down under ( again )
It’s been a while.
Seasons greetings from the sunshine here,to all ( its our summer )
Haven’t posted for a couple of years or more, but dropped in a few times.
I bought a Ducati Multistrada Enduro that I’m still enjoying & not selling but I’m missing the 14 torque.
It’s addictive & leaves an impression upon one
Looked at a lot of options but keep ending up back here
Sure there’s lighter, fancier machinery but Kwakas in general do good bikes & the 14 is an icon I believe
A friend has a ZX10 he’s just clocked 170,000 klm on, with very few issues.
So I’m pondering my 3rd 14, lucky ?? me.
Unsure whether to go for brand new, in Oz there only looks to be the grey scheme for 21, Which I quite like.
With TTX Ohlins & Brembo 50,s up front. Nice.
But cheaper options no doubt. Old new stock ? Nice problem.
Christmas shopping
Glad your still here ??????
Thanks

Good for you! I thought the 14R was going to be sold only in the U.S. for '21. After 75,000 miles,I'm gonna replace my 2012 with a '21 when they arrive.

If you can get an old one with 0 miles, that would be how I'd go. I haven't looked in showrooms for years but I heard dealers weren't keeping much in stock like they used to.

Thanks guys,
Looking at possibilities this morning.
NO old NEW stock around at all, in Oz, only a few new 21 bikes available, but according to a couple of dealers ALL brands of bikes are really struggling to get parts from their suppliers to build new bikes at all. !!
I asked where’s your commission coming from ? He shrugged his shoulders, shortage of second hand bikes about too he says !
Weird times we’re living thru, like we’re living out a part of history that will be talked about in the future ?
Seeing the 21 in the flesh, I was a little disappointed in the Grey unfortunately, it’s like a battleship grey.
Looks different to my bodgey eyes sitting in the showroom compaired to the promotional photos.
The gold adjuster under your right arse cheek was appealing tho & the Brembos & braided lines
I’ll ponder over the Turkey ?? n spuds ?? ??.
Hope you can all have a good rest, & eat too much.
Stay safe.

Man, am I disappointed! I'm planning on a new 14R and have been waiting for their arrival here. That photo looks totally different than the one on the Kawi website. Do not like it.

I'm not a fan of anything in grey. Always looks unfinished to me, as though it's still in primer waiting for paint. Give me the Golden Blaze Green or a Black/Green combination anyday.

Agreed Pegscraper,
Can’t bring myself to buy a bike that’s still in its primer coat.
It seems the same grey as a previous model, with slightly better highlights.
That one was my least favourite EVER.
Such a shame if it’s the LAST iteration of the 14.
Not a great way to retire ?
I’ll hang off until I find an alternate pigmentation, slightly used steed.
But each to their own.

No no no no no...

One of the least inspiring astetic designs I have seen for a long time.
All that detail and yet my straight black bike kills that look...

Kawasaki probably had leftovers they needed to get rid of.

Like that post picture with my bud Brock in it. I really love my 2012 spark black ZX14R. My previous 2012 was billy bad ass blue and I like the black spark better.

Color is probably why I have a 2008 and not a 2012 and up. I have not found a color I like as much as I do the 2008.

Colour and TORQUE brought me back to Kobe (KHI)

I always had large displacement bikes. Had the purple Orange zx-11 as well

Only electric has more torque potential.

Txs Lytnin, it is wonderful to drive as well with the updated rear Ohlins TTX and a fork optimized as well.

When I was looking for that color combination I was so desperate to get back to the “orange” I was going to ship a bike from another country just to get it. Luckily, I found a use one mint only a 100 miles away.

You do not see many of them when you go out to bike meets, that’s for sure.

The brock’s full system has really transformed the bike as well

Once you have ridden a 14R with triple bars it is effortless into the corners with so much more leverage.

Know I know why all the bikes back in the seventies used them as those bike steered like trucks!

The deposit is down on a 2019 ! When’s Christmas again ??
Private seller, only 4,000 klm, exactly 2 yr old bike.
Saving at least 25% off new with a few extras added
But I can’t go get it due to interstate virus travel restrictions here in Oz.
So I’ll be looking into bike shipping companies.
As photo but with Yoshi carbon slip ons.
Brembo front, Ohlins rear.
Let the tweaking begin.

Busabim, your machinery is looking great buddy.
I’m interested to know about your fork upgrades & bars, I’ll be looking into the ABM Kits for the motorcross leverage, had em before.
Also, can anyone throw some light on lifting the rear end some to quicken the steering ( dog bones style ) ?
Goes without saying to junk the 50 on the rear
Thanx ALL

Txs for compliment. Triple bars are LSL which I believe made by ABM in Germany. Rox risers added to triple bars are made in the USA.

Shock is ohlins TTX and forks were serviced and optimized using stock components for my weight/riding style.

55 series rear will make the bike steer a tad quicker. You could always raise the forks in the triple tree as well.

There are dog bones to lower the rear, not sure about raising the rear end.

busabim,
you are where I'm at with my Converti-bars. Grips fit inside the fairing pockets. Almost sitting upright.

in 2012, Kawasaki had 3 color choices. By the time I made up my mind to buy one (November, 2012) I decided I wanted Blue. I found the last Blue zx14r in the USA in my hometown. It had been sitting on the showroom floor since March with 1 mile on it.
I've been watching this channel using Plasti-dip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7J6rRj98A5s . It is fascinating.
I could buy knock-off fairing pieces and really have a one of a kind paint job. If I don't like it peel it off.

DoubleD,

I never heard of the converti bars and it looks like you are more upright than I am with the LSL & rox risers combo. They do a terrible job of marketing their products.

I believe that the triple bar is wider than than the converti bar but until I see it in person I cant say for sure.
The system is butt ugly in silver, but I believe you can get more height out of it.

I also have custom bar ends so I can run throttlemeisters.

I can substitute a different triple bar if I find next year that I am not tall enough.

The triple bar offers so much more leverage that it requires a significant adjustment when turning the bike.

I see you have the Buell pegs which I believe are better than my knight design foot pegs.

Please take more shots ( from many angles) of the converti bars as you have them pretty far back towards you.

Below is the picture of the LSL without the rox risers.
