I currently have a 2008 zx14 and am looking to upgrade to a zx14r and was wondering if its worth paying the extra for the ABS version?

I sprung for the ABS version. "Tis better to have and not need, than need and not have."

That said, I have yet to activate it.

YES!!!!!The ABS is awesome.I've stopped dead straight from 70 mph IN THE RAIN with Pirelli Angel GT's....NO hint of a slip...nothing....more than once(Brakes FULLY applied).Not only does it stop any skid...it allows you to maintain a straight steer on the front....which is pretty damn impressive IMO.Never felt like the bike was getting loose or anything.And it stopped much quicker as well.VERY QUICK.I'm a shade leery of trying to apply full braking(on the rear)leaned over at speed...but it most likely will perform the same way...I think.Who tries to lock up in a curve anyway?I have applied rear brake while leaned over however...just to see(but not FULL pressure)...it did prevent a rear wheel lock...when a stock non ABS would have locked up.

hey boyz, I didn't think it was possible to fit the zx 14 2012 r with abs after? What would that cost!

IDK...been asked before.All the mounting spots are in the chassis already.You'd need the ABS control unit...the piping...I think the sensors for TC will double for an ABS signal...pretty sure anyway.Maybe a grand?Probably way less.You'd need a 2013 ECU...stocker(2012)won't work...unless it has a program in it that needs to be enabled...possibly.The woolrich software maybe has that ability?To find and see installed options?My 2012 ECU did not allow the 2013 ABS system to work...the brakes still worked...but not the function of the abs.

2012 ecu will work, euro model, i got2012 with abs, standard over here on 2012 model

Ya....Euro will work...guess you COULD go the Euro route...buy the parts for your 2013...I guess?May as well buy the 2013 here though(the parts that is).Should hook up okay and all.Guess they wanted to see what the US consumers felt before adding it to their 2012 American models.Kinda silly really to not offer it here straight out the gate....

Be careful the euro model is equipped with an 02 sensor that is not build into the hardware of American Bikes. And getting a new ECU would mean 1000 on top of all costs discussed. Like my trailer hitch and 20 inch rims on my german car, it is best included as an option with the purchase price. Adding it now will obliterate you financially.
