Does anyone know if there are any 40t "steel" sprockets available?

Only looks like aluminum if you want 40t.

I'll go aluminum if I have to, but prefer steel.

Supersprox has em.I think the factory rear is steel...as is the front.Sunstar makes em.Kawasaki uses Sunstar I'm pretty sure.40T?That I don't know.

yes, it's the 40t steel I don't think is available anywhere.

Vortex has 40t aluminum but it doesn't seem anyone has steel.

Stock 2012 is 17/42

I could probably go +1 on the front that would be about the same,
but want to go 40t rear.

I'll probably just go aluminum.

Sunstar is where I get all of my steel sprockets. Give them a try.

I believe there's a bit of misconsception about gears.I mean....an aluminum gear(rear) will last a good while,but it needs more care than a steel.Chain lubed often(and cleaned)..correct slack.Correct alignment.I used a couple of aluminum rears...they held up fine.Heat and wear.I also think there are aluminum rears that are 'hardened'...maybe that's the norm?IDK.Hardened I mean much better at wear on the teeth that is.I pretty much stayed with steel so I didn't need to be 'concerned' about quicker wear...

I find aluminum rears wear out at the same rate as steel fronts so that's the ideal set up for me.

I prefer steel sprockets.

But if you want anything other then a 41 or 42 looks like you have to go aluminum.

Vortex has 34 <--> 66 in single tooth increments in aluminum "no one" has steel.
