SW Motech Direct Order?
05/20/13 11:34 AM

Has anyone tried to order something from SW Motech directly?

They have something offered on their site for the 14R that I want, and Twisted Throttle isn't much help.

Namely, this:

Bags-Connection Blaze Panniers

I emailed Twisted Throttle, asking about them. This is the answer I got:

The manufacturer, SW-Motech, does not have a fitment for the ZX14 models. I am not sure why they do not offer it for this bike. If they do create a set for your bike I will keep your email address on file.

So, I replied with a link to them on the SW Motech site. I'm waiting for an answer.

I'm not comfortable ordering directly from SW Motech, concerned about any after-sale issues that may arise. I'm also pretty sure shipping will be terrible.

Well...twisted throttle doesn't have the info apparently....that site looks legit...and the shipping probably won't be too sky high for coming from Germany?

What if I have to ship them back? That'll cost a small fortune. What if I have a warranty issue and I can't get a response from SW Motech? Then I'm out quite a bit of money.

Oh, and one thing I forgot, that totally squashes the direct order idea.

If you try to order on their site for shipping to the US, you get this:

We found a distributor for the chosen country. Your order cannot be placed in this shop. Instead you can send an non-committal inquiry to the distributor by using the button "Send request". The distributor will usually react within 2 business days by sending you a offer, which you may accept or not.

After much fire lighting, Twisted Throttle is going to source the bags for me.

I am at least a couple of months out from having the money to spend on them, but when I get them, I'll report back!

I wanted something that is convenient to use and required very little bike modification.

Originally I wanted the racks & hard bags, being concerned about protecting my paint. But, after figuring out the cost and what I'd have to mod on the bike to make them fit, I decided against it.

I think a couple layers of painters tape will work on trips. I'll just pack a roll of it so I can re-tape as needed.

Doesn't look to me like these bags are gonna need any underwrap stuff...course...it won't hurt...that's for sure.I couldn't get my head around solid hard bags...IDK...the idea of non-flexible deals sticking out there...nah....the soft ones would be for me IF.

Okay...yeah...I looked at em again...you probably would be wise to protect that paint on those side fairings.Yup...

Well, if you're intested, Twisted Throttle says and ask for part number HTA.08.740.10900.

They don't actually have them yet, and they quoted me 3-4 weeks to get them.
