No wonder the US Postal Service had such a bad rep-----7 friggin days for a helmet to go from San Luis Obispo CA, to Pittsburgh, PA, oh really.....then they have the balls to say its out for delivery today, maybe, but did I get it today? Oh hell no......lying bastards!!!!!!! Whew! rant over, I feel better.........

My postal service is shit !! over the past few months, I had have several DELIVERY CONFIRMATION packages delivered to my address, problem is, they were SOMEONE ELSES !!! This has actually been going on for over 2-3 years,
I get someone else's mail almost 2-3 times a week, some of it legal paperwork, financial, and like I said, delivery confirmation, but the problem is that they are union, and it's harder than hell to fire a union employee ...

I've actually had two problems this week alone ....

Unions are a cancer. Why the hell should a "Fastener Technician" (puts da nuts on da bolts lika disss..) be paid the same as an electrical maintenance technician ( a guy who actually has a high level of knowledge and keeps the entire plant rolling like it should). If you want to get paid the same then know the same shit dumb ass! Anyways.. yeah.. I feel ya..

I used to know a guy that worked at GM, the union Stewart told him to slow way down, he said "I'm not hurrying" "what do you want me do ? Steward told him "I don't care ......

We all end up paying for this, and yes unions are a cancer ....

Just had some stuff sent visa USPS from NY to Thailand- got here in six days.

Don't get me fuckin started. I waited almost a week for those windscreens, shittin my pants the entire time that I wasn't gonna get em, that something went wrong, that they were damaged in transit, or that they were just gonna not show. Killed me. I wanted to strangle the driver. They left at 0615 'out for delivery', I got them at 1707 that evening.

Yeah, it's not that it's run by the government, it's because they're union.

So, they supposedly left notice of delivery on my door or in my mailbox @3:24pm est.......now it's available for pickup at the local post office. Well, I don't know where they left the delivery notice, cause it sure as shit not at my house!! Now I get to go try to pickup a package without a delivery notice....this should be fun. I can see myself explaining this to some arrogant prick who doesn't want to hear it!!!! On the bright side, at least I'm off today

I've been living in the same apartment building for the past 12 years. My mail is delivered to my neighbors most of the time.

There are horrid examples of unionized employees and their low work ethic, poor job performance and protective seniority lists (slugs in jobs). There are also shining examples of warrior, efficent and knowledgeable union workers that are an asset and credit to their organization. My mail courier is outrageous and goes well above the call. The postal service is hit and miss, but I will say, one of the toughest jobs I've seen is a mail courier who walks a four hour route.
I have been a unionized employee for 16 years. I have never needed the union to keep me in a cushy job, my reputation provided the work, the union ensured I was paid fairly. I see both sides.

On a more on topic note, "really...waiting that long, misplaced mail" Arrrrh!
That would eat me up!

I've said this to many poeple...

I don't care what you do for a living, as long as you thrive to provide the knowlege work, the service, or the product better than anyone else and you take pride in what you do! Union or no union, be the best at what you provide! I apply the same goal oriented thinking to riding a motorcycle, to my job.

Went to post office, talked to nice lady there---she said probably got put on wrong route truck, actually would have been delivered today. Anyway, got my helmet, all is well!!!

Employes should not be able to force the employer to go union, that's not freedom, that's anarchy,some business owners start in their garage and work 20 hour days to build their business, only to have a mafia baked union, FORCE them to go union ? and the problem in the USA, (can't speak for Canada) is that almost all the teachers are union, and at least in my district, my son said that most of them don't care, and they can't fire the bad ones unless they practically kill a student. (My son went back to a private school because of this, which cost us $1100 a month because these stupid liberals in CA would not vote for school vouchers) but I feel like I have to send him there if we can continue to afford it, which I don't know that we will be able too ...

And as. I said, most of the Union leaders are in with organized crime, I am talking about the people in the upper hierarchy of the unions, not the employees when I say organized crime.

I worked around union workers, day in day out, for 11 years, and yes there are some good ones, but many were not, the ones that will not pull their weight, should be fired, but they are not,

Union or no union I would be over employed. The question would be if my work involvement would be compensated fairly? That's a big question? I worked in Private industry, no union and thrived there too! But as you correctly point out sometimes the unions protect employees who do not and should not receive consideration and that sir is a fact! I don't think yours was a dissertation, but merely a critical analysis, through the prisim of experience. It is valid and has merit.
