gen-mar foot peg extensions= P.O.S.
03/27/10 10:46 AM

I got my footpeg extensions in today, they were ordered two days ago...great service, they also powder coated them black for free...again great service... As for function, forget it...they are junk. The left side clutch lever is useless...even when you remove the lock nut and raise up the lever so its inline with the new pegs (like stock) its useless...Why? because the peg is now a half inch outward and worse off an inch foward...this inch is what renders the system useless....What one has to do is cut the clutch shifter an inch or so shorter and weld it back so it creates the same distance as stock...If Genmar would have disclosed this, I would have passes and not purchased their footpeg extensions. Now lets see if they will take them back and pay for shipping....

Hey,
I'm new to this forum so maybe I'm missing something here. You talk about pegs and then your clutch lever. I don't see how the two are related. After that you are talking about the "clutch shifter"?
If you could post a pic of what you are talking about it would help. If you are talking about the lowering pegs I would like to see a picture as I'm looking at doing pegs on my 08.

Doesnt sound like a answer for Me. Dont like the sound of 1/2" out. Thats what I dont like with the Buell pegs. The forward might work for Me though. Making my 14 into a hypersport tourer.
I'm thinking you have a quick shift on your bike?

If you are talking about the footpeg lowering kit I agree. I ordered one last week and put it on yesterday. I rode to work this morning and had to fight to shift gears because I could not get my foot under the shifter. I removed them as soon as I got to work. These are complete crap and would not recommend them to anyone. I was going to complain to them tomorrow. The only way they may work is if you have, or want to spend the money on an adjustable lever...which I do not so I am out of $55.

Can you post a picture of these units on your bikes?
I have a machinist buddy looking for projects to market.
Also would a longer/modified shifter work?
Is the brake pedal too short too?
I might be interested in buying them if I could see them and felt I could make them work.

The brake pedal is ok. The shifter needs to be 1-2"s shorter. The bracket lowers it 1-1 1/2"s but also moves the footpeg torwards the shifter making it to where you cant get your foot under it. Check genmars website under the concours. They are basically the same.

I'd buy a set of those genmar lowering brackets if they aren't beat up. Yes, I'm a machinist, and my nephew is a great welder. We'd just shorten my shift lever and heat bend it some.

I don't have access to a shop anymore (too disabled anyway) much less I'm clueless about CNC, but if some enterprising person with production capability (e.g., CNC and a plasma table) made a kit which has a lowering bracket like the genmar (which is quite nice actually - maybe Genmar would sell it deep wholesale saving production costs) and a replacement shift lever and maybe footbrake lever, and heat shields for each side where the heals of your boots end up after lowering, you might find enough of a market to make it worth doing.

Just saying.... Dubious did it with ZX10 front fender swaps, those are sweet kits.

I have the Corbin peg lowering kit. I have to say the shifting bites. I'm coming off Harley's and I don't mind the sticking out farther due to clearing the exhaust. My heel still comes in contact with the canister at times.
