What is the best way to listen to music under the helmet?
06/09/13 12:24 PM

Got a long run coming up in July. What's the best way to listen to music under that helmet. Love some suggestions...

Ps I have never listened to tunes while riding, so I am out of touch!

I've tried many earbuds, but always come back to the Etymotic ER-6 with the 3 flange tip. They are compact so you do not disturb the fit sliding your helmet on, have great noise isolation and sound good.

Unfortunately they have been discontinued, but you can still find them on Ebay.

I use a Sena SMH10 headset, love it! Can listen to music, make/recieve a call, and talk to my riding buddy w/o having to stop.

I use apple earbuds with my iPhone so you know when someone calls or texts you. Use one ear of course...

Wolfman,

+1 on the Sena SMH10

If you're really into your tunes and want EXCELLENT audio response (and have the $$) - get SHURE SE535 earbuds. THEY ARE WORTH the money.

+1 on the Etymotic ER-6. They are noise reduction ear buds which eliminate 34-35 decibles. I have tinnitus so I am very careful about not doing anymore damage to my hearing and these do the trick. I dont ride without them, plus I like listening to music when I ride.

Im curious about this too. Does the sena smh 10 work with full face helmets too? Also,it looks like wind noise would be an issue blowing on the mic.

*edit* by the way, I have one of these

It's a very cool concept, but I've found that the volume is not high enough in the speakers even when I have everything cranked up full blast.
