What Front Bike Stand
12/17/12 1:56 PM

I have used the same front bike wheel stand for years on all different kind of sport-bikes, when i used it on my 2012 ZX-14 the side ears on the stand scratch the sides of the front wheel fender when dropping it down. Looked at other brands but they all have the same design sooo, what are the rest of you guys with the 2012's using?

Why not just bend out the top slightly or cut the offending part of the stand?

Not sure if cutting or bending will affect the function..I use the stand on my other bikes and would hate to ruin or damage the stand.
Might be my only option at this point if there's nothing else out there that can be used to remove the front wheel.

Doesn't look like the axle will pull out at that angle. I'd like to see what everbody likes as well . I have a PitBull for the rear and its seen a many a bike so I'll probably try one for the front.

Sreynolds, the pic is of the stand once the front wheel has been lowered and the side ears flip up and there for scratches the side of the fender.
When the stand has the wheel up in the air it does allow for the axle to be removed.

I have the regular Pit Bull headlift stand. The stand is great if you're going to work on suspensions etc. If you're looking for something just to replace tires, I would go with their regular stand which uses the base of the forks.

If I ever get another stand...which I most likely will...it'll be the Hiendle pivot stand like Rook's got.Problem with these front stands...yeah...you can get the frontend off the ground...remove the wheel. But you cannot use em to check steering bearings or any of that. The pin goes right into the stem hole....basically loading the front end including the steering stem. The Hiendle lifts at the center of the bike...freeing both front and back wheels. You simply put some wood 4x4's under the header...and rock the chassis either forward or backward depending.Wheels can be removed...as well as unloading of the front forks/steering bearings and such. That's what Kawasaki does...albiet they have a factory designed center stand that comes up under the frame and such.Lifts the entire bike up off of both wheels.
