does the center collector have a catalytic converter ?

does each muffler have a catalytic converter ?

if i put any kind of aftermarket mufflers on they will pop on deceleration ?

at inspection do they put a air-tester in your mufflers ?

is a 4 into 1 slip on made and would that help on the decel popping issue?

If you get a 4 into 1 you are going to need some kind of fuel managment, power commander etc .. that will probabaly get rid of the decel, along with plugging the airbox, and hose that goes to airbox, I have slip ons,and I plugged the airbox and hose and was still getting some decel pop, only thing that helped was I put the quietest noise inserts that two brothers makes, that helped the decel pop a lot, mine is a California model, I dont know if that matters, but I think it has extra emissions crap on it, more so than the other models

Ive got a 2012 model and when i removed the exhaust, I did noticed that there's no cat in the mid pipe only on the muffler pipes.
I went with a four into two, into one, form Akra and also did the Block-off plates and a PV5 so far no popping on decel, as far as the inspection, like ryanc stated it depends on your location, hope it helps.

The Euro and Aussie spec bikes have a cat in the collector... US spec bikes do not.

With this cat in the collector, there is very little popping. It is why I have not upgraded the headers!

Are you sure there is no cat in the header on US models ? manifold-comp-exhaust 39178-0174 is US part number and the service manual says that it has a cat in there, but no Oxygen sensor I think it pages 270-271 will try and post pictures later ....

I haven't cut open one yet but Ivan has and found no honeycomb.

If you look at post #4 I included a picture of my ZX-14R header that was removed to install the Akra full System, the only thing in the collector is a divider...that's it.
Looked at the headers and nothing either, so I guess the cats are only in the mufflers themselves, unless I got one that was put together on a Friday afternoon lol..

The Euro bikes have to meet Euro 4 emissions I think this is one of the toughest emissions standards in the world to meet.

Don't know where those page numbers came from...certainly aren't in the service manual I have...2012 zx14R.I checked my headers(from my 2012)...only that separator plate...no cat.

I googled those part numbers...in all the sites that have that parts diagram(several)...none show a cat in the collector OR the mufflers...IDK where that pic came from?I do remember seeing a schematic of the mufflers and headers...they showed the muffler cats in em.The header?I don't remember seeing a cat in that part of the diagram.And I remember being 'relieved' that I wouldn't need to cut the collector open to remove a cat.

Got the picture from the online manual from this site, the part number says it has a cat, I dont know maybe a misprint, because someone said Ivan cut one open, and there wasnt a cat ?

Dont the american bikes come in a couple of dirfferant emission specs, California is stricter or something like that?

THAT could be.Mine didn't have one in the header.
