I currently have a Tankslapper kit on my bike and it looks great, except where my knee snagged the edge and messed it up.

I'm looking around for something a bit less delicate. I have used Stomp Grip on other bikes, and I don't like the way it tears up my gear.

Tank bras are a no-go. I hate those things, and all they do is trap dirt and scuff your paint more than just leaving it naked.

Tech Spec doesn't make a kit for the 14R and I don't think I can cut custom sheets that will give the right amount of coverage and look good.

The next thing I found was MagKnight. They have two options for the 14R; one and two-piece. The two-piece set is for those with the OEM tank pad in place. I'd like to leave mine there, if possible. But, I can't imagine that a sheet of magnetic material is going to stay put very well when it doesn't wrap the whole tank, like the one-piece would.

Are there any other options? I really don't want to have a bike with a worn out clear coat where I contact the paint after a few years. I wear an Aerostich Roadcrafter suit most of the time and it's pretty tough on paint.

MagKnih=ght works great. 170 mph, track day, never had it so much as budge. That will not be a problem.

Gripes with Magknight,
it is expensive
it cracks after a couple years,,,prolly last you 3 before it gets severe
the finish of faux CF rubs off where your jacket touches within the first year
it never sealed perfectly to the tank ...actually gets worse with age.

But if you don't like a bra and are willing to buy a new one every year, I'd recommend it.

Double check on the tech spec coz I got some on my 2012 and they are top stuff.
They are pre cut so you don`t have to stuff around

I'm still awaiting the arrival of the OEM knee pads so I can't speak as to their quality, but they look like an excellent choice.

If the price comes up in Thai baht, just do a new search to get the price in dollars. They're sold from the UK and are listed for the ZZR1400, so they might not have come up in your search if you only checked under ZX-14R.

Quality of the OEM tank pads is good, just apply from the center outwards, and make sure you prep good and make sure it is dry before you apply, they can get these little bubbles that will not come out all the way ...

Another thumbs up for the OEM pads from England.

The smoke coloring is only on the edges and its slight.

I think they look great, accent the foreman grills well, and cover the entire area where you knee makes contact. Highly recommended.
