They do suck. I just replaced mine with hardware store ones. They were pretty cheap and they work also had to use some rubber washers on top of them.

I think everyone agrees, they stink. The only problem with useing the cheap hardware store ones(at least around here), they are standard, not metric.

Hoopie well nuts are ever where on the bike however the oner in question are the top rear most nut that the foreman grills screw into. it is basically a rubber grommet with a nut incased in it. and if you don't thread the screw into the nut exactly right it can push the nut out of the grommet. the can also tear with time. this normally wouldn't be a major issue and not a huge ordeal to fix but on a 14 if the back half of the well nut rips off it falls into you air box. which goes with out saying is bad.

Lytnin there 5mm well nuts.

Here is a solution to the cheesy well nuts....LINK

The metric kits with the setting tool run about $80.00 - LINK

These kits are handy to have around and I always find uses for them in some project or repair.

I don't know about using a metal insert into the frame possible stress area for that cast frame. These are 6mm well nuts bought from a Ace hardware store. Not sure where the washers came from but without them the body panels did not fit flush. I superglued the wellnut in place and the washer on top.

They are available in steel, aluminum and, poly kits. I haven't actually seen or put my hands on the the poly style to see how tough they are but, I have used the aluminum in plastic before with excellent results.

This bike seems to be loaded with well nuts everywhere possible. I've only had my bike a week but the few things I've messed with were all held on with well nuts.

I think I'll order some metric poly inserts and see what they're like.

Every time I take the bolts out I worry . But I still have done nothing about it . It always seems to be something that I tell myself I will get to later , but then you know ,later never comes . And your right,I won't think it's funny when they fall .There will be no laughing then . More like crying . The wife rides a 2008 250 ninja and on her bike I had to replace most of the well nuts . They were all cracked .
