I know this is the wrong section but the 14R guys are the only ones I have any contact with. I don't know what to do with my life. I'm going to be a senior next year and I have no plan at all. I'm obviously into going fast but I don't know how that will pay the bills. Help me get a direction to go in.

Do you have a passion for something?

You need passion and support. By support I mean that there is a group of people who also believe in what you are doing. Could be family or could be people involved in the same thing. Could be consumers of what you have a passion for. Employers, clients....etc.

Passion in the beginning is self perpetuating. You will work just to work because you believe in what you do. After a while, you will have exhausted this energy. We don't do our work to please ourselves. people say they do but that is a defining characteristic of a novice not an expert. An expert needs to serve a community. That's why you need a community of support. You will be an expert one day.

Support usually means money. If you can't get paid for your work there is no community of support. Obviously some things are easier to find a community of support than others but usually there is some way to find a career path.

So, Trc- do you have a passion for something..a deep interest? If not, then that is what you work on finding. Don't be dismayed if you think you have no clear direction at this point. That might actually be a good thing. Knowing your passion from a early age often leads to preconceived notions of what your career should be. We all need to compromise our standards to fulfill the needs of our community. Very successful people often do not have a great deal of influence over their community...often the opposite.

You got the world by the balls at 17... Fuck lots of girls (bag it), go to college for criminal justice (if you can't afford it go into military (preferably coast guard or air force..... unless you want to run around the sandbox shooting towel heads then in that case army or marines), get out of service and become a cop (military service goes to the top of the recruitment list automatically)... Retire in 20-25 years in your 40's financially secure with a pension, benefits, and you never have to worry about speeding tickets.

Yep, If my balls didn't drop yet, probably Air Force. Why? I will have a proficiency test about being mechanically inclined, I'm in! I'm in to float on trucks, the company fleet, the jet engines. I'll be so well rounded in the motor-pool, the hangers. I get out, I can work at an airport, private corporate jet kind of jobs. I keep the planes in the air, the wheels moving, who ya gonna call, coast bust tears?

Push the plane down the runway? I think there is a secure job if you qualify. I HAD my taxes paying for that. Who partied with my money?

I served 24 great years in the AF. Traveled the world, met and befriended cool people, enjoyed a lot of beautiful women, and saved a grip of money. Education was free and I get a pretty decent pension with very inexpensive healthcare. This great country rewards vets with a ton of benefits that will last a lifetime. The military is not for everyone but for many that served, they don't regret it. It made me the man my family is proud of.

I've always loved to race. But at 235lbs I doubt I'd ever have a chance at being a professional drag racer.

Talk to 1Badzx14. He's your size. Has turbo. Does quite well at the track. I think it is very likly that you will be able to pursue that but physically guys like Ryan Schnitz will have the backing and physical properties to be better than you. .....but Brock still does LSR and drag racing. It is not his bread and butter but would you be happy owning a Brock's Performance? You are wise to consider what your limitations are though. We all have them. Not always do they block you from pursuing your dream. I'm a very proficient painter but I'm color blind. I was a professional illustrator for 11 years.

Not to get way off topic but I think it's worth mentioning avoiding fucking up as much as it is encouraging you to make basic, wise proactive choices. I swear you will be ok as long as you don't do stupid stuff. ......it can be so hard. We all make mistakes. I sure as hell have. Yes do by all means have the best sex of your life but DO remember these words if you forget everything else I tell you. You are young and your jizz is like magic. You said you were 235 lbs. How tall are you? If you're around 6 you can definitely get you weight down to 180-185 lbs and be healthy, if you're taller going pro in the motorcycle race business is probably not for you. In any case you could go to a reputable wrench school and race on the weekend and maybe like somebody mentionned have your own shop a la Brock.
