Lurked, bought a bike, modded it. Figured I should say hi. :)

Hey all!

Add another '08 to the ranks, in the faster silver color. Been doin' the motorcycle thing for 25 years or so, the ZX is my 12th bike.

I was seriously looking at the Concourse as replacement/upgrade for my 10yo 1200 Bandit. But the more i looked, the more i got steered toward the FJR as a better all around bike, and the more I realized I didn't want a 700lb shaft drive bike. I wanted something fast, I'd deal with making it comfortable. The ZX was the obvious choice, and a leftover '08 for a good price at my local shop sealed the deal.

I had my mod list mostly done before I bought the bike, the Corbin seat went on exactly one Month after purchase, and was the last of the major mods I had planned. Still needs a fenderectomy and some other little touches, and I might do a rack/tail trunk set up for long trips, but basically it's(gasp), done!!! With 1900 miles, the rear tire is pretty much done too. Looks like I might get one more ride out of it, 2ct waiting to go on. :D

Before pic...

Then....
Badge removal
Spiegler/LSL
-Handle bar conversion(plus custom risers)
-Frame sliders
-Braided brake and clutch lines
CRG leavers
Buell foot pegs
TechSpec tank grip pads
Kawasaki centerstand kit
ZG sport touring windshield
Bags Connection tank bag
Gorilla alarm
Corbin seat

And presto...

ZX-14CE (Concourse Edition) :D

Welcome, Dave.

Funny, I was looking at the FJR-1300 for a couple of years and changed my mind at the last minute towards the ZX-14. Never looked back.

My son got an FJR and I've ridden it. So glad I made the right choice.

Good thing I went with the 14, I guess, because this forum probably wouldn't be here if I hadn't <grin>. -bg

Thanks guys! I had ridden a friends FJR a bit, and while the straight line acceleration was probably on par with my B12, it felt quite a bit heavier in the turns. I didn't see being able to ride it at the same pace I ride the B12. The ZX on the other hand, while still a bit heavier than the B12, is so much tighter and more solid feeling that it makes up for it in all but the tightest twisties. No regrets for sure, I love this bike!

-Braided brake and clutch lines

Did you ride the bike with stock brake/clutch lines before this mod..and if so, did it make a big diff?

I really can't say I noticed, but I was(am) still getting used to the bike, and that makes it hard to tell. I still have to kind of get 'adjusted' to the bike again each time I ride it, so it's tough to pick up on subtle changes like that. It certainly didn't hurt at all!
