No offense brotha but why did you buy a 14 if you self admittedly don't ride hard??? Looks like you already have a nice quick ST in your stable. Just trying to get a little insight into something I've never understood. People who buy the most capable powerful cars or bikes and don't utilize them puzzle me.

I have a center stand. Love it. Let's put it this way, I have no chicken strips on my rear tire and I am yet to drag the stand in a corner.

I've installed the center stand as well - it didn't go as easy for me as for Erik... I didn't think of the silicone spray on the rubber bumper till I cussed at the bastard for a while (also I used a pair of needle nose pliers to pull the bumper up into the exhaust bracket). Also I think I made the mistake of installing the pipes before attempting the spring.

So, if you follow Erik's instructions you'll have a MUCH easier time than I did. :)

From my estimation you'd have to be leaned over pretty dang far to drag center stand parts. There are times on unlevel terrain when a centerstand is the best way to ensure she won't fall over - I've never regretted having one.

I have a 2009 ZX14 with a full Muzzy M14 system (4-2-1 header) with the megaphone canister.

1) Do you think the centerstand would work with this mod?

2) Also I *tried* to search Babbitsonline for the kit, but had no luck. Could you help me with the URL?

3) Is this the Kawasaki kit or a custom from Babbitsonline?

TIA

Wouldn't the Connie 14 center stand bolt up?

Not considering installing one but I intend to part a Connie 14 in the future.
I plan on attempting to fit the Connie motor into a Mean Streak making a new "Eliminator 1400"
because Kaw won't.

I also have the center stand. It won't drag around corners. And I've learned that by putting it up on the center stand when I fill up, I increase the range by about 40 miles.

Help!

I just bought the center stand kit but the instruction is awful. It says "Replace the key cylinder bracket relation parts from 14 to 16 shown as figure" but the figure doesn't even show 14 or 16. I am totally confused about the bracket goes inside the side faring.

"EXCELLENT How-To! Thanks, Erik! -bg" Where is this How-to? There is nothing.

I'm guessing Erik got miffed off and decided he'd take his tutorial with him.

IMO, if you don't ride too hard, that is all the more reason to use a center stand. They add some weight and that is the trade off for the convenience of having a built in maintenance stand.

Hope someone comes along to help out on the centerstand question. Sorry I went with an aluminum sidestand so I can't tell you what 14 and 16 are. My guessis they are saying to use the parts from the OEM stand that are necessary to install the centerstand. ignition cut switch, ...IDK what else you would reuse.

Hi Rook,

Thank you for your reply. Ignition cut switch?? Like the Sidestand switch? My God! Hope someone can help me out here. The center stand itself is a piece of cake to install. I just don't get the Ignition cut switch part as it doesn't seem there are any wires involved.

Actually, I figured out how to install the difficult portion - around the key to remove the seat. It wasn't anything to do with Ignition. It took few minutes to figure out the whole thing but it wasn't that difficult. I had to replace an inside tray (or bracket) that holds the key in order to install the nice looking handle. Now all I have to do is removing mufflers and install the center stand. I will work on it tomorrow night.

Installation completed. Removing mufflers was pain...so heavy!! My next shopping will be a set of Delkevik slip-ons. Center stand is really convenient. Special thanks to Groomlake for selling me the stand for an excellent price!

I'm thinking of installing a centre stand on mine as well as they are bloody convenient, a few questions though, does this mean I will lose the back underside section of the fairing? Looks like that goes and the stand takes its place? Also, how well are these stands designed? I've had some where its a bloody struggle to get the bike up, then others, like BMW ones are as a snack. What are these like?

Cheers

Bill

Seems if you step on the foot arm and stand on it, there is that much momentum to set it on the centerstand without using the pull handle. Remove one muffler to send the pivot shaft thru the frame, and possibly the lower fairing flairs need to clear and be removed like you said.

Hi Bill,

You need to remove the underside section of the fairing. Using the center stand is not as easy as BMW - Iused to own BMW R1100S. I am a skinny guy (5-8, 135lb) and that could be one reason. ZX isn't light. You will get used to it, though. It was pretty tough for me in the beginning but now it seems easier. If you are not planning to use the center stand outdie of your garage, the ABBA stand semms to be a better choice. I decided to go with the center stand because of two reasons: 1. I wanted to use it when I travel on ZX. 2. I got a great deal from one of the forum members on a brand new center stand.

Good luck!
