Thinking of trading in my '12 ZX-14R for a '16. I read a blurb that the '16 model has slightly less power due to the new Euro rules. Anyone know about this? Thanks.

Going to be 10 to 15 hp less. Most of it is exhaust, but some engine part numbers are also different on the intake side. Thats what i have read anyway. Leftover 15 is the direction i went and very happy. One dealer still had a leftover 13 so no need to get the 16 unless u like the matte black. I kind of wanted the brake upgrade but stock brakes on the 15 are amazing.

Its easy to assume a person could have 10k a year by 4 year. 40k on a 2012 I might be looking to trade up as well. However I have read Lee (SmokinZX14) say that he has over 40k on his and its faster than when it was new. Think he is running 8.42's on stock motor.

I have 28K on the bike, but also had a ZX-10R, along with the 14R, for over 2 years, so I do ride some. Trip to Arkansas in 2012 and Kentucky last year. I've had many BMW's, but the 14R is the best long distance bike I've ever had.

The exhaust on the 2016 ZX-14R has 3 cats on each side. There is a cat in each mid-pipe and 2 in each muffler. Removing them brings back (most if not all) power and eliminates 25+ pounds of UGLY weight. I replaced the 2 stock potato launchers with a pair of Two Brothers CF cans. They look great and I love the sound!

Auron, that remains to be seen. The exhaust is not the only thing different but yea we are talkin 5 to 10hp max difference tuned.

Throttle assembly and cams on the '16 have the same part numbers as the '12, so it would seem to me that getting rid of the stock cans and getting a flash would make things equal.
