New wheel pinstripes/yosh spools
04/14/12 2:01 PM

Well, I finally let my Dad talk me into wheel pinstripes, and they came out great! I didn't want to do it at first, because I didn't think the bike needed it. But it looks just fine. Also, I installed my Yoshimura spools the other day. We've had the paint for the stripes, and it looks good with the factory paint.

That does look very nice!

Since I also have a blue one (the quickest kind), you have shown me what mine could look like. But you painted these rims? This is not a decal, then?

I believe the green ones in an earlier post were adhesive affairs. I don't trust my painting enough to order factory paint and apply myself. Decals, I can probably handle and anyway they come off easier thatn paint if I want to revert later.

Thanks for the photos.

mmm- Melikes. At first I was going to say 'why not a bit fatter?' I think its just the shaded pics it look stoo subtle but in the pics where the light is brighter, I think that is about perfect.

...now I have another deign problem to solve when I do mine. Fat or thin?

seems like I alway spick the wrong thing and then think of something better after I already spent a boatload on something not quite as good.

Yes, Paul, it is House of Kolor pinstripe paint. I can get the color for you if you want. It isn't the factory color (factory is candy color?) But it's close enough that it looks good. Something you may want to look into if you are interested is the Beugler pinstripe tool.
Rook, It comes with one or two different wheels , which give different stripe widths. They even do double stripe wheels. You can get a bunch of different wheels for it. With a little practice (it only took dad 1 or 2 tries the first time) and a steady hand, you can do it easily. Tip: have someone turn the wheel slowly and steadily while you hold the Beugler. It has a guide that you can use to keep the line straight.

TXblueSS, thanks for the link and info. They definitely look good, but I think I'll pass on a special tool for a one time job, especially when I doubt my ability to master the painting tool.

On the other hand, if I got good at it, I spose I could set up shop and sell the service... hmmmmm.

They look great! Looked at the decals many times but was concerned if they would last over time or peel off. You were smart painting them on, they will last forever, if not touch them up ;-)
I sent my rims out and had them polished, after my 07 I swore I would never do that again but they look really nice!
