BMW S1000RR
10/15/10 6:38 PM

I rode the BMW S1000RR about 60 miles and it put a smile on my face. The fact that it has 3 modes on the fly, rain, sport, and race is a blast along with ABS, Traction control, Launch control. The wheel will rise no more than 17 degrees and it will power wheelie at will even with the slipper clutch. You can turn all this off and go to slick for the track or just buy the new base model for 13,999, I like the safety features with 187 at the rear wheel. The dealer offered to sell me the demo model 16,225 MSRP for 13,999. 3 year 36K warranty but the depreciation is bad. It appears that a used clean 2010 wholesale is worth 8500. So I am back looking for a smoking deal on a ZX14. It sure was a sweet ride.

Kruz just posted a couple of links related to this 8500 #. He could not find one for this kind of money, nor could I. More like 15,000.

If you see one for sale at 8500 please post a link. I am looking for a litre bike. If I can buy one for 8500 show me where, Please. Thanks

I am just stating that the wholesale value on a 2010 is 8500 - 9000. I have connections to purchase bikes wholesale through a dealers license. I am only stating that the depreciation is huge on this bike. I hate to think that I paid 16K+ OTD and if I traded it in it would be roughly 50% less than I paid for it. It is a great bike and if I was sure I would keep it for a few years then all would be good.

BMW recalls S 1000 RR for Potentially Loose Connecting Rods
Friday, April 27, 2012 BMW North america

BMW of North America is recalling certain 2012 S 1000 RR sportbikes due to possibly loose connecting rods in the engine. The potential number of units affected is 1,414.

Due to a manufacturing error, the connecting rod bolts may become loose during high engine temperatures and/or high engine operating speeds, which could result in catastrophic engine damage. In the event of engine damage, escaping oil could cause handling issues, increasing the risk of a crash.

The recall affects models manufactured from Sept. 1, 2011, through April 10.

BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the connecting rod bolts free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in May.

Please contact our Customer Relations team at 1-800-525-7417 if you have additional questions.
