They are out there. When I went to pick up
My black one, they got a blue in the same day. It does look Bette than the pics, I almost changed my mind. When it is clean though, you can't beat black. (I am slightly biased!).

I wasn't ABSOLUTELY sold on the refined frontend side body style(s)...on the upper cowl at the midfairing. But I gotta say...the styling has really hit me over the last couple of weeks. They REALLY got this bike right IMO.I'm extremely happy having a bike this revised and carefully engineered. You'll see...this thing is a real sweet ride(and I didn't think it could be done coming from my 07).Wait till ya start hittin the curves and such at speed....I'm 175 and yesterday I gave the suspension a tad bit of adjustment.Front preload....ONE FULL TURN STIFFER.Compression damping front....two clicks in.Rebound damping....two clicks in.Today...geez...I could definitely feel her performing better than stock settings(std)(at least for my weight and riding style).

KTRC on setting "1"...Power on 'F'....never slipped once.Tires are doing REALLY WELL....25 degrees out....nary a peep of grip loss.This thing's amazing...just amazing.

Kawnaw, yup it's mine. Got it a week ago today.
Grn, I love it! Best bike I've ever owned, and it's not even through the break-in yet!
That's a pretty bike, jagman. And there is a pearlish or metallic thing going on, Rook. Looks a lil better in person.

Boxmonkey looks from the sign you're in Denver this has to be the best altitude beating bike yet. Since you lose 15% power there and this bike is so overpowered at sea level. If I bought the blue my wife might not notice a new bike in the garage you think?

Never noticed the converging lines they added below the ram air. Like it.

Paint the fins on the side panel blue.

no no no..... one of the reasons i liked the blue is because of the black fins.... they give the bike some contrast...early on they did show 2 green models now only one for us but i perferred the green with the black fins for the same reason.

Green w/black side covers...EURO model(no flames). You can always order those separate.Maybe the Canadian ones offer that solid black and Green.

Sorry...can't help it...I LOVE my SE!!!!

To Rook...ya...the body restyle has some very cool subtle changes to it over all. That ram duct...it actually is more pointed(the top part also is a teensy bit "off" of the front radius of the nose..looking at her from the side) and the bottom V part is deeper and shaped more pointed at the very bottom point. It's also deeper back in the cowl. The duct tubes themselves are MUCH bigger in there.I like how the SE flames kinda set that whole styling thing right there off...kinda grabs your attention to the front more with those flames being just above those two ridges.

The distance from the tank to the bowl of the seat is tighter as well. They redid that rear subframe some way...the rear cowl is a smidgen shorter...you can see it.When I'm sitting in mine...the tank is comfortably right there, and it feels as if it actually is a tiny bit higher as well.I used to have to lean over my tank to rest my arms on there for cruising and relaxing(kinda). This new setup,I'm no longer leaning in to do that like I was,and it's VERY comfortable this way.Makes me feel like I'm more a part of the bike than just riding on it.Very nice ergos with this bird.
When I first saw the seat shape in the pics,I was concerned that it would be like the Connie seat...that one was soft, but they shaped it so that (at least me)felt like it was angling me into the tank all the time.It didn't feel comfortable that way.Not even with this seat.It 'looks' like it's doing that, but not when you're sitting on it.It's totally neutral and soft.

I say it's worth a try, Kawnow. I had to look twice at your avatar to see that it's a gen 1. If she suspects something just tell her you just replaced the fairings. Say they're a new safety upgrade, or something.
I'm anxious to ride it to sea level and see what I'm missing! But I'm afraid I'll like it too much and either need to move or install a supercharger.
I agree with mark, I like the black fins. I considered getting the green or black and trading the fins with someone who has the opposite color, but fell in love with the blue. I do really like the green euro model with the black fins.

I do like the black fins as well. it's a huge bike the contrast makes it look more compact. Maybe some blue outlines but that's about all I will do. The pipes being black look a little smaller... can't wait for the after market ones though... hopefully, they will be a lot smaller but bigger than the 14's.

Black side fins are great but i'm talking JUST the fins blue and leave the flat parts black. I wouldnever do that to a brand new bike but after a couple years definitely!

Grn, I would go with black fins on yours....JUST the fins not the flats in between. If you were realy daring, you could go with scarlet fins. COOOOL!

actually, having too distinct of a bike is not the greatest if you plan to go really fast. Better to be more anonymous.

My black is only a couple of weeks old so can't bring myself to do it yet, but ultimately I think I am going to 2 tone it. Nothing crazy, silver or gun metal on the fins and maybe a tank & cowl stripe.

...and vynil works pretty good for stripes. You have to get the hang of it but the nice thing is that it is instantly reversable. Unfortunately I found it impossible to do a really satisfactory job on the fins using vinyl. Paint is the only way....and the Gen 3 (are we calling it Gen 3 or Gen 2?) needs the whole side replaced to get the OEM color back.

I know a guy who does vinyl and tint for cars. Mostly commercial, but for some beer he'd do my bike.
Why does the whole side need to be replaced?
BTW I really like the racing strips on your bike!

Go for it! I'd do it for beer too, now that I know how it works. It is not a piece of cake --actually takes as long as painting or maybe even longer.
tips:
apply vinyl in the sun on a hot day,
works easiest on flat surfaces, the more rounded it gets the more you have to stretch it.
Irregular surfaces or sharp corners to stretch over (like the fins) prolly not gonna look clean.
You need to cut around head lights and ram air and for that you need a BRAND NEW exacto knife. You have to have the touch to cut it. I never put a single scratch on my bike but I learned frisket cutting in airbrushing years ago. Vinyl is more difficult than that but it can be done----practice first, make cutting guides out of acetate for the ram air, and most importantly, just toss that exacto blade after it has cut 3 or 4 feet. they cost 30 cents, not worth a scratch on the clear coat.

Why does the whole side need to be replaced?

The Gen 1 & 2 has a small piece with the fins. You can replace those for about $90. The rest of the side is another piece and the lower is a third piece.

The Gen 3 has all one piece for the side (right?... looks that way to me). If you wanted to go back to stock after painting the fins you would have to repaint that whole part. Wouldn't be a neat job to just repaint the fins the OEM color. Usually it is cheaper just to replace rather than repaint fairings.

BTW I really like the racing strips on your bike!
Thanks, that really grabbed me from the start. There was a number of double stripe schemes back when the Gen 1 was news. Maybe we will start to see some flashy appearance mods again now that the 14 has a freshened up platform.
