Stock pipes with PC-V
07/09/10 1:12 AM

Will I get any real gains with Stock pipes, K&N and a PC-V, flies in? I want to keep the low end smoothness, but get better fuel milage and power.

Will I get real gains? Yes/No. Yes, lean out the bike running rich as it is. No, once you are running, more fuel means more power in the right places. Do you have control of the accel pump? Yes, I would think that is something to look at, if you hear ping that is; when trailer pulling. But if no pings, then no, more a waste you have that knock covered under throttle load conditions.

I want to keep the low end smoothness, but get better fuel mileage and power. Ahhhhh, that is a yes and no too:

Yes... The extra smooth comes in as it pounds down the low end away.
No... How will I gain extra mileage if I need more fuel to make more power?

You are towing trailer. There goes the throttle going in a little deeper and that pulls down the mileage. Will the mods help mileage and tow?

I have the piggy accel pump pulling in the 10 to 1 ratios and it stumbles getting there I am too rich. I remain stock, let the ECU do it's thing; the accel pulls to 12 to 1. And that is turning a toggle switch on, and then a toggle switch off. This is well before 2 football fields are crossed over watching the 2 different A/F ratios. So, are you going to ruin your mileage on your tune or the bike's tune you leave well enough alone?

I think I cannot match what bottom torque feels like against what the pig is set at. If that is the case, then I need a lean, no extra-extra mods, I use premium for ping on load. Will I ping on piggy? Not as much. Then run regular and run a pig when in tow? Why not.

Should I stimulate the economy, buy something, set a toggle switch up so I can pig it nice and fat rich on the fly; as I take off with toggle on? Then I am cruising in the lean condition I just leave the pig off and there is my mileage killing a humming bird with sugar water anshit.

Yes or no is now the ball is in your court, wait for more input.

Thanks Hub. I run Premium fuel always and to date not pinging even when pulling a trailer. What is a pig?

Your welcome. Was off line for awhile. Anyway... A pig, piggy, or piggyback is a term for any fuel or ignition enhancer. The Powercommanders, the Motty, a Bazzaz are types of piggy type tuning tool boxes.

Yeah, I sucked you into that ping on the premium and tow. Between the noise fatigue and tour, no overheating of the tow package with stock trim, WHY would I change what works perfectly well, you follow the owner's manual with the premium rated sticker on the tank.

Microns my man, Microns. You are the tour master. You send a K&N front and center into a corn field of dreams are dusts in the wind; your cylinder walls will be loving it. Puff The Magic Drag On with that trailer under load and load after load you are going to sponge bob wipe the oil off the front of the trailer, spin the oil cap off and squeeze the remains back in is a gas station 200 miles away you brought extra gas, not oil I had to have my K&N frontal lobe checked.

Stock my man, Stops more Microon you tune to that counter shock of one sock after the other you fly through the air with the greatest of ease Z now, I'm only showing a difference of the OEM and a racing pleat you need to tune for. Stock, you need no tuning of a PC5.

Then if you use a pig, would you use it to run leaner from stock if stock runs rich as it is? There is a fine line if this bike is the world's fastest out of the crate and now you alter it? K&N looses HP on the dyno? If that is true, did you not level it off to the next best thing?

2nd place my bike I swap a part, lose HP, gain micron? Am I making this stuff up? Someone is pushing a truth you lose HP with a K&N? For argument sake, we make that a truth. Do we want to go that direction is one part/mod called an air cleaner element?

Don't get me started on the pig, we run in the streets.

Thanks Hub. I like keeping her stock. Factory pipes draw less attention from the Man.
