A friend of mine got killed early Saturday morning (non-motorcycle related, he lost control on some curves and they found him inside of his car in the lake early Saturday morning) and I almost became number 2 this awful weekend. This here is a familiar section of road for me but the county through in a curve ball, and I just so happened to come flying into this corner in the center of the lane where all this rock was sitting, somebody up there was looking out for me cause there is no way I should have recovered from the slide I was in when I hit that shit! Just be careful out there boys! I turned back around to take a picture of this death trap for you guys! Even if you've been through the same section of road thousands of times always alway ALWAYS scout it out before you play, you never what might be waiting for you if you don't!

Sorry to hear this news about your friend. Glad you are a ok. Advice taken and appreciated, ie, one must know the terrain and scout the road.

It's one of my biggest fears coming into a corner covered is gravel. Glad to hear you managed to recover and keep it upright.

Its been a bummer of a weekend... I'm just glad there was no oncoming traffic cause I was way out in the wrong lane when it was all said and done. I wasn't speeding either when I went in.

I'm very glad you weren't nailed by another car.Yup...somebody up there...you bet.Had a similar deal occur with me on a farm to market road just the other day...I didn't hit,or slide...but it was right down the center of the lane...on a curve.(right lane only).I managed to swerve away from it...but it could have been real bad as well.KTRC or no.I slowed up some,and watched my lane really carefully after that.Wake up calls for sure.Glad you're okay and made it through.;)

It never hurts to be reminded of the potential hazards out there. Cages aren't the only thing you have to watch out for.

Lol that's the exact same thing I'm thinking while I run away from the traffic. The other day I was adjusting my glasses under the helmet and when I looked up there was a damn deer standing in the middle of the road.

Yup...just amazing really how ya can't see em until.....but they're right there...standing...waiting.

One of my favorite roads was ruined that way. Someone threw sand on the curves every few days. Of course the county isn't much better. They dump gravel on the country roads every year, and don't put up any warning signs. Cruising along, you see the road turn white ahead, and it's a 6" deep pile of gravel where the truck started dumping, and a couple inches deep for 1/2 mile.

See this all the time, cant say how yours happened, but in CA. I see these idiots in trucks (that should not be hauling stuff because they dont know how to secure a load,) dropping stuff in the road all the time, was coming down ortega HWY a few months ago, and there was a big rock or piece of cement right in the middle of the road about the size of a soccer ball, I hit it dead on with the front tire, luckily I kept control and no damage to the bike

Sorry but that won't even save you, if it's your time to go, it's your time to go. We had an experienced rider killed on FM 455 awhile back, it's a favorite play spot for sport riders in North Central Texas. He had made a pre-run and everything looked good, him and his buddy turned around and went for it. Farmer Jones pulls out of a side road and decides to dump one of those water tanks they carry in the back of their pickup truck right in the corner. He slid out in the turn and hit a tree head on, case closed. Road conditions can change in an instant, pre-riding the road helps but there are no guarantees in life. Read my signature line below, 2 Corinthians 5-7, just substitute the word "ride" for "walk".

I say a prayer for safety everytime I get on a bike, the silver cord is thin and easily broken.
