I have a 2006 that i just put a new crank rods , rings, bearings, gaskets, ect ect in didnt replace the pistons(i did mic them and measured ok) put it all back together step by step and every torque spec was spot on. just started it up for the first time tonight and its ticking like all hell sounds like a cam chain but im not sure. im ready to scream!!! i need some help out there im in sarasota fl if someone is close and wants to come by and check take a listen PM me and let me know. also i installed the rods so that the serial numbers are facing the intake side. nothing was ever said anything about it.

That is a major overhaul, the noise could be anything. Hard question to answer. Engine ticking noise could be valve noise, valve hitting piston (not enough clearance), piston slapping engine walls, exhaust leak, cam chain, noisy injectors, etc.

I know this is not the answer you are looking for, but it is unrealistic to expect the correct diagnosis over the internet without more information. Your best bet is to take it to a competent technician, explain what you did, and why, and have him diagnose it for you. Good luck.
