Exhaust question
02/28/14 8:49 AM

Hello all, I have a question concerning exhaust systems. I was wondering what the difference is between slip ons versus full aftermarket systems. I would guess that it would be weight savings over Oem, so if you could school me on the differences. Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming you know what the physical difference is but just in case....a slip on is basically just going to be the mid pipe back. A full system you'll get all the way from the engine back. Headers and everything which would result in more power, different sound and in some cases weight loss. Hope that answered your question

OEM = Low-mid-top overall performance.
Slips = Mid-less low overall performance.
4-in-1 straight headers = No low-no mid-more top end.
4-in-1 crossover headers = Helps some low-mid ranges.

Unless you do other stuff (reflash, Power Commander, flies out or combinations of things) the biggest benefit from any exhaust mod is weight reduction.

Yes, when you unbolt that bracket and slide that massive stock can off, you can audibly hear your bike go *WHEW, thank you so much!*.

Them stock cans weight about 150 pounds each.

Now that I got em off and have full exhaust on the bike I am gonna convert my stock cans into a doghouse for our English Bulldog. LOL

Thanks everyone for your replies, after doing some research on both platforms, I have decided on either a brocks full exhaust or a muzzy full exhaust for my 2014 along with a power commander. Now I just have to narrow down which one is better for me. I'm leaning towards brocks.

Both good brands. Post some pics when it's done.

Get your ECU flashed too, it's almost a whole new beast. Power comes on so much faster and harder.

I would go with the lightest system between the two brands you like. I'll bet that is Brocks. Can't go wrong with that. CT meg was the system I always favored.

My Brock's system is stupid light. I thought they shipped an empty box when I picked it up off the porch. Alien Head 2 trapping 156 through the 1/4. Numbers don't lie....

Muzzy all the way. I just installed a Muzzy M10 and it is lite.. box was less than 18 lbs. That included other stuff i ordered too.. which was about 2 pounds by itself. Muzzy is cheaper than brocks too.. cant go wrong.

Well I decided that best choice for me is the brocks exhaust. I like the looks of the short meg in black.
