So, my long suffering 06 is getting a major suspension rework. New fork seals, cartridges, shock R/R with a revalve and new oil and nitrogen. Poor thing has 70,000 miles and is mostly stock, other than a pipe and Power Commander.
Next up will be tires,(again!) then chain and sprockets, followed by a Nels reflash. I can't wait!!!

Are you saying the original chain is still on the bike?

I have a lot of things that need replacing too. Tires are #1.

Well, I bought the bike with 39k on it. The chain was new at that time. So right now the chain has approximately
31K miles on it. Sprockets look surprisingly good. I feel a little vibration probably due to links getting tight. Maybe I'm just a pussy but parts on my bikes tend to last. Clutch has at least as many miles as the chain and it's great. I don't think I've ever had this bike all the way to redline. Very close but not all the way. So far the only parts I've had to change are tires, ( of course) brake pads, fork seals, battery ( 2 of them) and fluids.
In 2 years I will finally have a garage again and a bike lift so the bike will get more frequent TLC then.

Nice work Mad.
I will be very keen for your feedback once the work is done.
We hear people rave when they upgrade their suspension but there isn't too much on when suspension is maintained...

Same Here but the forks were fine when I got my Ohlins'. 1 battery replacement. Also I changed chain and sprockets. The front needed it. ...and sparkplugs. air filter every 6000~8000 miles. Lots of other parts were replaced with aftermarket but they were all in good shape.

It's about that time again. About every 24,000 miles it's replacement parts time.

70,000 reliable miles. 14's are some awesome bikes. I just had to put a new battery in my 2012. (it was only 3 years old). I was at cruise night on main street for about 2 hours, parked, watching old muscle cars, etc. When I was going to leave, I turned the key on and nothing happened. No tach or speedo needle going through their cycle. I looked at the lights and they were on but really dim. A couple of people pushed me and it started up. It showed a picture of a battery on the dash display. I wanted to make it home in a hurry and I pulled onto main street and it died. I got a push start one more time, it started and quit again. I called my cousin and he came down with his bike trailer and hauled it home for me. I took the battery to Interstate Batteries on Wednesday and they did a load test. The needle didn't even move. I bought a new battery and stuck it in and it fired right up. The guy at Interstate told me motorcycle batteries last an average of 3 years. It might be overkill but I'm getting a new battery every 2 years. I don't want this to ever happen again. I'm just glad I was in town and not on a cruise somewhere. I know some people get quite a few years on a battery, but I'm not taking that chance anymore. I know now they can go out without warning. Congrats on all the miles on your bike Mad. I hope you get another 70,000 trouble free miles.
