lower foot pegs
07/27/09 10:53 AM

Finally got around to making my lower footpeg brackets yesterday. Took a couple of hours for the prototypes, not counting the a few hours to make the two templates. I gained Almost two inches which really made a difference in my case of having extra long legs. There is about 1/8" clearance from the exhaust pipes with a 1/4" offset.

If you double click, they get larger.

If everything works out, I'll pull and clean up the edges later this week, maybe prime and spray paint them black.

I can live with the angled brake lever for now but eventually I'll be getting it cut and welded up an inch or two. The picture makes it look worse than it is but I have a fabrication guy nearby who can do it.

Cost: $10 for the a piece of aircraft aluminum off ebay. The Corbin brackets are $100 and have a much wider offset as well so this was a fun as well as money-saving project. The aluminum is very easy to work with using an electric hacksaw and a drill press.

I haven't had any problems with corner scraping and I ride fairly aggressive. If you need to go that low in corners then I would suggest leaving it alone.

I'm going to try to get to the lowering links tonight.

I have Oberon race cut pegs on my bike- they are a lot lighter and lower your foot
slightly while offering more clearance when leaned.
Oberon makes really nice stuff- quality, fit and finish is top notch IMHO.

Looks good you could always remove the curb feelers from the stock pegs and pick up an extra inch.

+1 on Oberon. A little lower makes a big difference.
