I was just at the Expo Motercycling Swap Meet & said to the Kawasaki Dealer It's too bad they don't have ABS ! he said yes they do ! I replied from the photos on my ZX14 forum they dont show them as having ABS,I now they have K Trac & 3 map settings & Larger cc's ! he said I know for sure the Australian one is comming out with ABS too !

US 2012 ZX14R doesn't show ABS as an option. Maybe it is, and the Kawasaki USA site is wrong.

Again, everyone is going boinkers and no one can 360 a walkabout to see what the bike is all about? Watch the electrics:

I am a relay box next to the battery. See my hole? I am going to fill up that hole with the abs box. No, wait! Watt are we looking at? Do we see just the 3-amigo triggering of the wheel spin and wheel stand?:

1. I cut spark.
2. I cut fuel.
3. I close sub.

Note the 3 amigos in the electrical Ktrac who cares what letters, it says no hoses to the brake line or are there, but you just don't see that there are two systems. One is Kcrap my wheels from spinning/lifting. The other is ABS me is take and release my wheel I am in locked mode with the back/front brakes.

If there are brake lines coming out of that ABS box, then yes, you have both shebangs!

The 14Rs ABS system uses same wheel sensors as the KTRC, but is NOT intergrated with it... It's a stand alone ABS.. Not the same as the C14 system...

This could be a kawi chart out of some press kit I have no clue? Not that visordown would know this internal workings. Withat variable going in and hiring some chart maker, along with the other connie rendering...

Spike control box. It fast forwards your follow up [the wheel spin] and then spikes you within the blue zone. You green like spin it up to that green zone and there you go, the zx10 hardware/software kicks on? That is my guess is use the latest shit on the bike. Who backtracks to some old kawi evolution working a better wheel spin.

No, I didn't read the article. I read shop manuals for the working data. If that is out of a zx10 FSM, there you go, I'll scatter brain it on my own is the self diagnostics I'll crankey dankey it my way till the FSM is in hand. Hammer that throttle and you leave some tire and it stops straight ahead we go hold on!

If I can't fist this bike as it is without it jumping all over on me; Grn? Let me know if you nail it, she sings and signs off or you are on your back; what load of a mode was that in?

Bean, I know it is the connie. Think generic when I enter a post. We are 3 amigos in the theory no matter how you look at that hat trick in the cut box. It cuts liquid (ABS) and it cuts the watts. I think we need to take some photos in detail as to where a brake line goes so you know it is ABS or not.

Those are called tone wheels. Those windows are pretty generic again. It is a way to monitor one wheel against the other. It is a 360° window pattern that says, you went past too many windows, we no longer match window for window; let me stop this right here and now!

RE: ABS ?

I have seen specs on some sites saying they come with ABS, but I can't find it on the parts list or options list except in Canada and Australia sites.

Whats up? You guys that have orders in, do they come with ABS in the USA ?

When I placed the order for my C14, I was afraid I'd have to buy ABS as an option, but the dealer told me since 2010 its been standard. Nice surprise.

If you watch the Ride Like a Pro videos, they recommend practicing slow speed maneuvers with the clutch in the friction zone, and the rear brake on. The C14's ABS is linked, but if you only press the foot brake, it won't link in the front brake until you really stomp down on the foot brake. So you can do these maneuvers just fine.

If you grab four fingers of front brake moderately hard, the rear brake is actuated in ABS mode.

But thats the C14....

Not sure of the HUBberish point but if there isn't a pump like on the conny and associated plumbing there is no ABS. You can have all the electronics you want but it must have the plumbing also for brake fluid pressure release and pumping to have available pressure. An extra seven pounds for ABS I say I'll take the weight penalty.

It'll work for me cause that powerfull front brake makes the rear light, thus easily locked, had many shiiiiiiit instances, so I'd like to have ABS.

if you can learn(not sayin YOU in particular there Drag)to brake safely and quickly in almost any situation, you won't be relying on a system to stop ya perfectly.I mean...that's how I see it...and I don't mean....I KNOW HOW TO DO IT.The brakes on the 14 are excellent...everyone knows that. But I can guarantee ya...there ARE some situations where all the brakes in the world aint gonna save ya.ABS or not.I'd say...if a guy can 'master' the current 14's(2011's and all)....then anything 'better' is just naturally gonna be icing on the cake.Including ABS.But I doubt if you're gonna see it as part of the stock package.Maybe in EUROPE...where they get a lot of wet roads and weather. But over here....I don't see it.

Yep! That's why I wanna make sure to master the 14 before I upgrade. I wanna get the skills to push the 14 to probably 90% of his potential... You had more than 50k miles on old blue and I heard your sweepers prowess so it'll make sense. When I'm finally ready for the r though I hope it comes with abs.

None of you are good enough that ABS wouldn't pull your bacon out of the fire in slick rain conditions and so forth. Granted, not all the time. But once is enough to justify having it.

If I could turn mine off, I'd leave it off in good weather most of the time. Because I rode for 40 years without ABS so obviously I figured some of it out.

But in the example, above, I'd rather have ABS than not have it.

The problem comes when you count on ABS and traction control to keep you safe, rather than relying on learning and perfecting good rider skills.

With my C14, I won't have that problem. My habits are far too ingrained from far too many decades, and when ABS or traction control kicks in, I'll be like, "oh yeah, I forgot I had that".

Somebody made a comment about not needing ABS on the COG forum, and right away dozens of examples where it kept the hard parts off the asphalt were given. And this from riders who can pretty well keep up with you in the twisties, Grn14, despite your inflated opinion of your riding skills.

Let me clarify one thing right now.....I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT MY SKILLS ARE>I ride how I ride....skilled or not.I never said I was skilled...EVER.And believe me...a stint at the Dragon would most likely be my last ride. And that's on the real.

...but NOT on a bigazz supersonic sportbike. You don't want your front wheel taking charge over your own inputs

Yes you do. If Rook had ABS on that first hit, he would have lost the, 'for ever action' there is a second skid coming. The ABS would have snuffed that lock. That tire had to have stopped dead on the side skid. There is only one way I can make the same skid noise is lock the front wheel. And if I had a camera in front of the back wheel, I could smoke that camera lens with some white skid marks, you'd see that [black mark] shoot bye the camera too. Name the mph I begin at 100; is the mile pee how here is to practice my ABShit!

Gimme that shit is I've owned an ABS GS series bmw. Tested first year ABS; junk-chopping-shit-bmw at a dealer show. I know both brake hit settings. Remember, I returned a fleet magazine bike back [in the day] to Honda with blown fork seals. Took that bike over 100 and hit the brakes; about 18 times if I recall?

Yes or no, Grn... Have you ever hammered an ABS brake; owned an ABS bike; ever? It sounds like you never did is it seems you'd be all over it? I am going to run 'rain mode' all the time. If I am imagining what rain is and what race is? Race is more forgiving. Rain cuts it quick so when I give it a hit, I don't want a flat spot as in, smoke that spot. D'oh, like I do now I take one hit, miss that shift and the car cuts me off all in that combination situation? Why, it was no more than this month I believe that happened? Last month? Hell, pick a day I couldn't use a hit of ABS. This is what that tire is doing I smoke those lines... Just for sport.
