Psst...Cblast... Suspension
09/22/13 9:42 AM

Our stone age BB software wont allow me to send pictures Via PM, so its a post. I found my max lean, guess I need to add more speed? I think I did this the other morning, after I put the HID's in. I was trying to see how vertical I could get the horizontal beam cut off line (80-100 mph).

I ground the billet kickstand foot on the other side. The feelers would probably have scraped if i had them on.

Current Suspension height (from stock):
Rear: -12.7mm, 55 series tire, so this is a wash?
Front: -25.4 on the fork tubes in the tree.

It's basically -1" lower in the front without sitting on it. Everything has changed since raising it back up from being slammed. I think i need to change the rear shock settings. Its hitting kind of hard and not eating bumps like it used to . I have to raise my ass off the seat, or i get bucked.

I would like to see you run the Angel GT's as your next tire to see how they stack up against PR3's. I don't think you could go wrong with either for a touring tire, but would still like to know how they stack up against each other. I only have 6 high speed turns available on my way to and from work a day. Which generally are hindered by traffic. I'm 140 miles a day in a straight line.

I did get the ass end to slide on cold tires. My reaction felt kind of natural. I'm used to driving my T/A sideways looking out of the side window. The hovering power wheelie on the highway i am fine with, but anything other than that causes me to hit the brakes.

Hell yeah Fat!!! Wicked lean angle!! I love that shit!!! WOT!

And yeah bud! I think a few suspension tweaks will increase your lateral lean limits! Frickin wicked tires to give you grip like that on street! I like all of that. Really, hella fuckin awesome way to push and find the limit!
As fer the suspension settings, if you are gonna chase the lean, and ya don't want to raise the bike back to stock height, then we need to find the sweet spot between compliance and firmness. I am 5'7" tall with a 32" inseam and stock height with a 190/55 feels a little high at stoplights, but I don't give two hoots because as soon as I drop that clutch, she feels frickin flawless. Confidence inspiring at lean. The body touch says time for a little more firmness. I am runnin 26-28 mm of preload front / rear. When setting your sag, important to back off the comp/rebound settings to get accurate setting. That first preload set will help the other setting fall directly into line easier! :)) again, frickin awesome man! Makes me want to go rail some frickin corners!!!!! If you would like to chat about suspension and put our heads together on some settings or whatever man, shoot me a text or whatever. I keep PM-ing people my cell. Fuck it- 360-649-8047. Anybody needs a hand with anything or just wants to bounce around ideas, I benefit greatly from the back and forth learning. Feel free to text or holler. I will always answer or get right back to ya after I swing off Priscilla or get permission from my wife!

I thought frame sliders were supposed to stop this kind of carnage? I must be doing EVERYTHING wrong.I've got lowered pegs...leaning to the very egde of my rear tire...I can't get a scrape ANYWHERE?Well...the toes of my riding boots are...uhm...'shaved' shall I say. That doesn't count...even if I'm on the balls of my feet.

Heck no green, ur doing everything right! It's just a push it thing. And it's not really necessary to push till touch on street. It always happens to me when I am focused in something else, just lean angle fallin into place because if velocity. No worries grn! And shite, ya don't want to have abrupt wiggles at deep lean, not touching bodywork is a good idea! When ya do touch that hard, usually means ur about to lever the rear wheel off the ground. :))

GRN. I had to ditch the lowered pegs because they scraped and so did my toe sliders. I put the stock pegs back on minus the rubbers. Raised the front of the bike up 1/2".

I'm just trying to follow Cblast tire tracks. However, my bike has the war wounds....

Nah fat! You got that shit! Like I seriously am impressed. The scrape yes. But let's look at what I call INCLUDED CIRCUMSTANCE. You were at speed...leaned in, past off, into ON throttle. Feed, scrape, push, continue to feed. I see it. What's impressive is the control, not to let off because of the chassis wobble but CONTINUE SMOOTH INPUT AND ON THROTTLE. This keeps chassis stable. To chop throttle cause the little waggle is and can be DISASTROUS. Don't try this at home. So. Mad frickin props on smooth input and great lean angle control. I want you to utilize that 'one full ass cheek off', approach. Practice it on EVERY SINGLE CORNER. Even when commuting in town or whatever. Get comfortable ALWAYS smoothly dragging your ass across the saddle in the transitions. Focus on how the bike feels when you are kinda hangin off. The bikes included lean angle is less this way. Ie:less lean angle needed as you CARVE the corner. Leaving more tire for grip and thrust. Does that help?
Frickin awesome Fat!

Hmmmmm..........well, maybe don't hang half-an-ass off when under supervision by the Gendarmes.

It attracts too much attention even at my moderately brisk pace; it will get you an escort at the least for a while.

Had WY trooper follow me for nearly 8 miles a while back; boring damn ride and a bit unnerving, that's fer sure.
