Hello, im a new onwner of a zx14 i went for a longer ride today (80miles) and about half way back my bike started acting funny whenever i tried to give it gas - everytime i would give it a little gas the bike would bog down and then learch forward repeatedly. To the best of my knowledge this bike is completley stock and had only 1790 miles on it when i purchased it - does anyone have any thoughts on what i should look at or do to prevent this?

Hey hub, thaks for the reply - i just got back from a quck 5/6 mile ride and it acts fine until its hot or so it seems - so tomorrow im going to check the coolant level and make sure thats ok. I'm assuming since i purchased it from a dealer that the air filter is ok but im going to chek it anyway from your mentioning it.

i see the wires your talking about - nothing seems connected there - no N light on all the time and no gear display showing 6 all the time everything seems ok - all displays seem to be working fine.

From what i can tell this only happens when the bike is hot 3-4 bars (it was 83 today) as i roll on the throttle (no WOT) it acts like its not getting any fuel and kinda pulses fuel no fuel - fuel no fuel - any throtle i apply just past a tiny turn - im talking like just bareley rolling on it it will do this.

my ride earlier was leasurley - and when this started to happen i was at 3 bars doing about 35 and it went to 4 bars running at around 5k rpms. as i rolled in and out of towns going from 35 - 25 back up to 45 - 55 any throttle roll past a tiny but the bike would do what I stated above.

I know its hard to get a feel reading but i hope the extra info helps explain what its doing - no error lights and displays working as they should.

Ok, so im thinking im just a moron at this point.

I filled up the tank put some injector cleaner in and everythings running fine so far - now im starting to think that perhaps my gas gage was off a little bit and I was just running out of fuel - at the time it started happening I had 1 bar showing on the gas gage - so her is me thinking im good to go for at least another 30+ miles but I guess not.

I am going to keep riding and see if it happens again at that level - I wouldnt think it would react like that but im new to this bike and its a whole different beast.

Anyway - thanks for the advice and hel Hub I really appreciate it.
