Need someone to chime in on this for me. I'm a member on another forum, but there's only a handful of biker members there. I am planning to mount a lidar jammer head under the front cowling of my bike. Question is, will the small jammer head get dinged by the fender on a frontal compression? I don't think so, but have a look at this post:

The jammer head is only about 1 inch thick, so I think I'm good.

Here's another possible spot. I planted one of my HID ballists between the gauge cluster and windscreen with the tip over sensor.

Unless the windscreen will mess it up.

The lidar head has a light sensor and laser diode that needs to face the front of the bike, and needs to be fairly level (elevation-wise).

Jamming: Electronic Speed-Measuring Devices

28150. (a) No vehicle shall be equipped with any device that is designed for, or is capable of, jamming, scrambling, neutralizing, disabling, or otherwise interfering with radar, laser, or any other electronic device used by a law enforcement agency to measure the speed of moving objects.

(b) No person shall use, buy, possess, manufacture, sell, or otherwise distribute any device that is designed for jamming, scrambling, neutralizing, disabling, or otherwise interfering with radar, laser, or any other electronic device used by a law enforcement agency to measure the speed of moving objects.

(c) Except as provided in subdivision (d), a violation of subdivision (a) or (b) is an infraction.

(d) When a person possesses four or more devices in violation of subdivision (b), the person is guilty of a misdemeanor.

(e) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a person who has a valid federal license for operating the devices described in this section may transport one or more of those devices if the license is carried in the vehicle transporting the device at all times when the device is being transported.

That's a flat spot behind the screen and a small cowl. Leave the cowl off. The only question I have is will it work through the windscreen???

Yes, they are illegal in CA. So is speeding. :)
It is actually an equipment violation, non-infraction, no-point "fix it ticket" in CA, per a traffic lawyer who I met. (It is not enforced as an in fraction - you pay a fine, show that you have removed the device, done - no points on your DL as a regular violation would do)

Yes, the lidar jammer will work through plastic windscreen, though it will diminish performance due to light refraction.

My question is more about the space between that flat area and the fender. I went over some speed bumps today on the bike that had me thinking the fender might actually make contact there... I may do some experiments and just tape a pack of cigarettes there and see what happens.

OpenRoad; I've read that they can confiscate the jammer, but yes, the lesser of 2 evils in the long run.

I'd mount it on the left lower fork vertically. Anywhere else is going to stick out like a sore thumb. It would be nice if you could take it apart and mount the sensor in the front of the mirrors and hide the box in the body work. If the sensor is wired to the board it could be a possibility, just extend the wires. Grab a set of those mirrors with lights in them from the other thread, and goto town.

I just got an idea for a better place, but there is no unit available to do what i would want. Remote mount the sensor and jammer, main unit hidden in the fairings, no display, bluetooth connection to phone for visual and audio.

The cops know what those black boxes on the front of your bike do, and depending on your laws they can just pull you over and confiscate and fine you for it. So another form factor would be advisable.
