I don't know what the size for the "hook wrench" as they are also known as for shock, but the one I used was similar to what piken posted and a second wrench would have made the job easier but it was doable with a single wrench.
When you go to make adjustments definitely unload the rear shock! I have a tire rack in my garage which supports up to 800 lbs so I strapped the rear of the bike to the rack using ratcheting tie downs to lift the back of the bike. Once the tire was just off the ground I was able to make the adjustment, tighten the locking nut then lower the bike.
Don't forget to take measurements for the static sag of your bike before you start and with the extra weight you are planning on carrying (ie, gear, luggage, passengers, etc) and figure out how much sag you want when you are finished. Lower the bike and re-measure with the extra weight after you have made some changes to figure out how much more you need to adjust. I think it took me about an hour to rig everything up, adjust and remeasure a few times.
