zx14 spring rates
08/30/10 9:19 PM

just had a bit of a windfall and was looking at putting some new front springs in the beast

The bike is for daily use with a lot of more 'spirited' rides in the twisties on weekends.

I weigh approx 105kg (230 pounds) in the buff but since I dont ever plan to be riding naked, how much should I allow for gear ??

which manufacturer's / spring rates would you guys recommend ?

Of course I will also be putting new fluid in the front end, what weight though ?

OZ

P.S. I have a mate who knows a lot about bikes is going to help me do the changeover for a bottle of spirits (not metho)

So many toys to buy...... so little time and money

Cars?..... I dont like cars, they have too many wheels and go round corners funny!

You might try looking on "race tech" on the web.Gives the spring rates and product(theirs)for the 14.Looks pretty good to me.If I was gonna do the upgrade, that's who I'd check out.

SnuffyZX,

Glad to here it. I hope that he helps you out I'm telling best money ever spent on the bike.

Blue07,

Yes I got front & rear I just got the replacement parts for the forks because of price and I like my bikes to look as stock as possible. Plus I could use that extra $1100.00 on my other bikes. But I gotta tell you that she feels like a brand new bike. I do pick up every bump in the road and that's because of the settings I have it set on though I like to cruz and take it easy. When I'm coming out of the city and the traffic starts to break up I like to get in to it and tend to ride her hard going north. Now that I'm on the Ohlins not only am I faster in the turns but even the straight-aways feel more straighter and stable. Almost like a 1000cc bike. I have always had lots of bikes at the same time and I always loved my 14 but the suspension was always it's downfall now I can really run with my boys on there 1000s in the twisties then take them apart in the open road.

Oh I almost forgot the most important thing the tires are wearing together now.

At the time I was 6'3" 290 lbs now am 275.

I'm telling you if you can you got to do it!!

SnuffyZX,

What part of N.Y.C. are you from? We should meet up one day and go for a burn up state the roads up here are great with very little traffic.

Have you ever been to Ivan's shop if not you need to get there and talk to him and see what he dose to ZX14's crazy?
