Puig windscreen

On the 14r there is a plate behind the gauge cluster to cover the wires..... does that stay when I replace the factory windscreen with the Puig?
The bottom 2 hole are being a royal pain. I think I may have to clearance a bit of the plastic on the new windscreen to make the holes line up.

If there's no wires or brackets on the plate, I'd take it off even if I used the OEM windscreen. If it's just to conceal the junk under there, it's not doing anything but adding some weight. Praypaint the windscreen bottom if you want to conceal the tip over sensor and stuff. The Puig I have for my Gen1 came with a sticker to conceal the stuff in front of the instrument cluster.

experienced a similar installation struggle with mine, kept the plate cover though...
be extra careful not to drop bits & pieces, like the rubber spacers... these tend to vanish in the inside of the bike, never to be seen again

I had no plate behind my 2012 Stock screen.
I ordered a Zero Gravity Touring screen and it was not painted black at the bottom like the stock shield, so I painted it flat Black to cover the exposed wires.

Hmmm, that's weird, cuz I have a Puig screen and it bolted right on. Been about 5 years but I don't remember any fitment issues, and definitely didn't remove a panel or anything

The model years 13 and up had that heat guard in there at the screen nose. Also to keep the Sun from hitting the guages and such.It should be reinstalled. You should be able to fit the grommets and small plastic threaded pieces in there.Perhaps the grommets don't go in that front two...I can't remember now.Fitment of the screws should be the same as stock for the 13's +.

Put a Puig on my 2016, kept the plastic cover on at the front. Had no issues fitting..
