I did mine today. Only thing I noticed is its pretty loud when slowing down using the motor. No idea about the problem your having.

Did you notice a big difference? Ive been practicing WOT pulls through 2nd gear the last couple days, and cant say it feels much different.

I want/need/wish there was more basic mods we could do to our motors to get more HP.

I didn't feel a major difference. But I haven't got into it hard due to the vibration.

I heard from many people that there would be a whining noise witha 16 T because the chain is being forced to turn an appreciably smaller radius than it does with a 17T. If yoiu want noise free, there is some sort of Zephyr sprocket that has a rubber noise damper on it like the OEM zx-14.

Blue07 knows the exact sprocket. I would contact him if he does't post on your thread.

I agree that I was expecting something that was going to terrify me when I went to 17/45. It is a lot quicker but it is not a world of difference. Nice mod and I'm sure it will wheelie before I close in on redline.

I dont know, when I did my -1 on my R1, it felt WAY better. I did a -1 on my R6, and that made a big difference, and then I followed that with doing -1/+2 on the R6.

Im thinking its due to the more broad power band of the 14.

monster how many miles on the bike when adding 16 tooth? did you change the chain also? i think id take it apart and inspect it if for no other reason than to just give myself peace of mind that its right.

my buddy stored his 14 in my garage this winter i rode it to his house a few days ago (he has a 16 front) and the only noticable difference for me was i was able to actually get the bike into 6th gear before 80mph lol

I want/need/wish there was more basic mods we could do to our motors to get more HP

for $25 i installed the rifleman 1/5 turn throttle and all i can say is WOW!!! you better have a tight grip when you twist the throttle with that baby on there lol

I plan on doing the 1/5 throttle, BUT that doesnt add hp, just makes it more responsive. Unless im understanding it wrong.

I did order a BMC filter yesterday, mainly because my stock one is dirty, and id rather have one I can clean instead of replacing it every time.

It should not be vibrating.Perhaps a tad bit of gear noise, but no vibration.Get that cover off and recheck the gear.Look at the teeth especially. Are they wearing on one side or the other. You do have it all the way on the spline, yes? And your washer bent down over one edge? The only vibration I've encountered was a MILD light vibration when hitting the upper RPM ranges.NOTHING that didn't feel normal for a smaller gear up front. If I didn't know it was not a stock gear....I wouldn't have even noticed it.How's the REAR sprocket wear.Anything odd about that?wearing on one side more than the other?

The Zephyr front sprocket has the damping rubber on it.Like the stock 17.Might just try that Zephyr one out. It's in the parts fiche on "cheapcycleparts.com"...under 1995...section..."transmission"...you'll see it there.Part Number 13144.That's it.

It was kinda mentioned, but how good of shape IS your chain?Doing okay?Or worn and dry.It should NOT have any of THIS going onThat was done by a certified Kawasaki mechanic .

Scott, if you check my sig, I have a nitrous kit. The spray bar is installed, but thats it. The closest refill station is currently over 1/2 hour away. And with this small of bottle, id be wasting so much money in gas to drive there and back, it wouldnt be funny. If I could pick up a couple more bottles cheap, that would be nice. That way I could only make the trip like once a month or less. Theres a refill station about 5 minutes from my house, but they are sold out, and since the local drag strip shut down, they are currently debating on keeping the refill station.

If yoiu want noise free,

Stay with 17 stock set up in front. The 45 Rear sprocket lifts the chain up off the swing arm to make even quieter again.

I agree that I was expecting something that was going to terrify me when I went to 17/45. It is a lot quicker but it is not a world of difference. Nice mod and I'm sure it will wheelie before I close in on redline.

The 17/45 is so Smoooooth you wont notice any difference down low. That's what makes it one of the SWEEEETEST mods for the big girl. By far my Fav gear. And quiet too.

but it is not a world of difference.

Oh yes it is. Rook find yourself some sticky pavement and tap first four gears at 10,800 RPM. Bring clean underwear lol OR do roll ons from 2nd with stock geared 14. You won't notice other wise. And Your not supposed to notice it, that's what makes it great, lol.

Remember you won't feel much of any change Even 17/48 if your not on the gas,,, so don't be afraid to play with them all. No biggy

The 2.65 gear ratio of the 17/45 and the 2.69 of the 16/43 work great to propel all this weight in a hurry if that's what your after. No gear ratio will be a shocker if not on the Gas.

mymonster if your like me you will never be happy with the 16F. I just listen to my buddies roll up on theirs and makes my skin crawl lol. Some people don't mind, and the gear does get quieter as it grinds it's way through the break in period lol. Like reported above the rubber cushion will help some too.

Sorry guys I just hate the 16. No need to flame. Rofl.

Rook old pic. You may notice this gear change. Sneeze and your on your back. You first lol.

Ok.... You're not going to believe this. I was given the wrong sprocket! My drive gear stripped it out!!!

The drive gear is fine, but the nut and washer are shot. Cycle gear said they would replace them.

Gonna take 5 days for the parts to come.

Yeeesh....okay...I'm trying to picture this here...the "wrong sprocket"...."drive gear stripped it out"...stripped WHAT out?"Nut and washer are shot"....Are you talking about the spline, the grooves(?)...that's stripped? The threads on the shaft are history?.If so...Cycle gear owes you more than a new nut and washer. This isn't making sense to me.You were able to install a "not fitting" sprocket on the front, and the NUT and WASHER are damaged? How do you get a not fitting sprocket to go on that spline? It will either go on,or it won't,right?Okay...fess up...what the hell did you do
