Usually, it will not break all the way off and can be extracted in one piece. If it does braek off, it would be unlikely to fall down the intake. there is a catch trough that would hold it. I could see it getting bounced up and into a bellmouth if you did a hard wheelie landing.
Don't tighten the tank fairing screws a lot. That causes the rubber well nut to expand too much and it splits against the edge of the hole in the airbox it inserts into. This goes for all well nuts. FInger tight is good. The rubber will hold tension and dampen vibes. Thats why the use them for fairings. They work very well but if you tighten them, they will need to be replaced. Oh, in case your thinking to use locktite on wellnuts, DON"T. The whole thing will spin when you try to remove the screw.
It was a dumb idea to have a fairing well nut inserted in a hole in the airbox. Right up there with the fairing grommet (for positioning only) in the ram air tubes on my busa. They should have made that a solid mount screw like the screws on the lowers.
