Got a question for all you tech-heads out there... I want to swap out my stock projectors with a dedicated LED hi/lo set I found by the J.W. Speaker Corporation. Thing is, I haven't been able to find exact dimensions on the projector lenses themselves, anyone have some insight to lend here? Details below:

Long story short, I haven't had such good luck with HIDs, and I found these lights online while looking for a headlight for my other bike.

They look slick as hell and they're stupid bright, but the item description states they will directly replace any 90mm projector. I'm cool with tearing into the lights to get this working, but I don't want to plunk down $300 a light only to find out they're the wrong size. Anyone got a set of headlights split open and a micrometer?

No idea of the measurements your looking for but keep in mind not all HID kits are equal. DDM tuning has affordable kits that rival the more expensive name brand ones... Each to their own man but I think after your done ripping apart the projectors you might have been better off with a mid grade set of HID's.... Then again, going by your sig... It might be worth overdoing. Good luck!

Ditto on the DDM tuning 55 watt HID kits. I have them, and after adjusting the aim UP, they are all I can ask for. I do get brighted from oncoming cars from time to time, once or twice in the daytime too; but that's fine with me.

as for all kits not being =, I wholeheartedly agree. I started off with a cheapo ebay kit for half what DDM Tuning costs, and was NOT happy. It was a 35watt kit, in its defense; but what only as good as the stock bulbs.

NOW, if I could just find the "city lights" led replacements that don't quit working after a month. Been through 3 sets, so far, and each led of the 194 style bulb quits working gradually; until its all out.

I have a couple of lights I've used as 194 substitutes in the past, these are my top 3. The 14 has a very small bulb cavity, so you need to be sure that the bulb's circuitry doesn't extend too far out, otherwise the bulb bracket won't screw back into the housing and you're boned. Here they are...

First up: these ones are slick, they're bright for their size, and they're available in multiple colors. I have several of these in my 2007 Impala, and they have performed admirably for the last 2 years they've been in the headlight side marker positions (tight clearance issues here too). The 5050 LED chips are killer because on each chip there are actually three individual diodes, as opposed to the 3528 LED chips, which only have one diode per chip.

Next, these are essentially the same SMD LED as the above, only instead of five 5050 LED chips, there's only one. I used these for the city lights on my 14 until I replaced them with the next model. Not obnoxiously bright, but performed very well, and available in several colors.

These are what I currently have as marker lights on my 14 (for about 8 months now, with no problems). They're very bright, and have the added bonus of strobing. I like flashy and eye-catching, and so long as the ones you get aren't blue or red, the heat shouldn't hassle you about them. To turn on or off the strobe function, simply cycle the bike power. These lights are STUPID bright for 194s, and the strobe feature is a real eye-catcher. Be advised: if you don't like the strobe function, these can be a hassle.

I've bought a lot of LED bulbs through these guys over the years with only one problem (bad design on one bulb type, and they made it right). I hope this helps!
