Thought about maybe loosing the "helmet hawk" for starters?

Hey Wolf! I like the stocker or a shape like urs for top speed because of how smooth it is in profile. I tried that ZG DB and I liked it. I find the stocker gives a little smaller pocket of dead space but it doesn't interrupt the smooth flow of air as much as a DB. The helmet makes a big difference too, that new shoei rf 1100 has a little aero shaped ass end that flows air brilliantly at speed. I was actually thinkin of trying the ZG like urs. I want a ZG corsa windscreen for the R. But ZG doesn't make that one for our bikes.

Every time I see an opportunity to pull 300 I have the zox saw blade on. The zox has a clear windshield so it gets worn at night when I'm out and prowling for pulls. The arai has a dark, so I wear during the day. Perhaps I should aim for the heavens during the day and wear the Arai. Night time hooliganism is much prefered as the cloak of darkness acts as an escape agent.

You need more tuck! I know when I'm rolling at very high speeds, and all tucked behind my windscreen, it's pretty cozy in that little bubble in there. Just gotta get down low enough!

I would think so. If they are designing by wind tunnel, the stock shape is probably pretty hard to improve on. DB are for better wind protection below 170 mph. ...they do use DB in the isle of Mann, though and those guys can do 200 mph. Look at LSR. I doubt you will find anything but stock shape screens.

I really really want a CORSA screen. I have emailed ZG about 49 times. Okay. Exactly 49 times.

But until then, I like the way the air flows around my helmet when ass off at lean at 130-150, I try smooth ass glide to center as I pin 5th.

^this!

Chin on the tank and you should feel nothing! Lift your head at those speeds and prepare for a slap in the face. My Shark RSI cuts through wind like a hot knife through butter.

Wolf, I have the Shoei X-11 too and love it. Has a very clean flow of air. Shoei X-12's are about the same shape. I did find my ZG DB screen on my 07 caused a little buffeting at speed-ridiculous. I liked the protection at normal speeds, but going ballistic was not so great. I'm only a touch shorter than you and found things improved when I shuffled my ass back a bit further when getting into the tuck. It gave me a bit more room to get under the screen, and flowed air over my back cleaner. I'm going to try tinting the factory screen on my new ride and sticking with that for a while.

A cut seat will help you sit down into the bike and get lower. Plus it gives your ass something to plant against. Couple that with a set of murphs pegs and its pretty comfortable. (I'm 6'4, 205)

I know my backpack causes extra buffeting behind my head at all speeds. The higher it is up on my back the worse it is.

Wolfman gotta hunchback?

I also use a light smoke pinlock 24/7. No need to swap. Arai signet Q.

The double bubble causes buffeting as well, the MRA double bubble with the vents is supposed to calm that shit down. I know my MRA touring screen is quieter than my ZG DB.

I tuck as much as possible, but my moderate Dunlop's Disease prevents MotoGP type streamlining. The resultant buffeting means I'm happy though 3rd and a little into 4th. Then, "the hair just starts standing up on the back of my neck." Gotta have a clear view of potential threats slightly beyond my stopping distance to remain in the comfort zone.

Used to be on my nearly as haul ass CBR954RR that I could slightly raise my ass off the seat and the vision would clear alot. However, the 14R is so smooth this really doesn't buy me anything. The net result is I'm happy up to about 150mph or 240KPH, then the fun, happy rush is quickly displaced with - you know!!.......

I've given more than a bit of thought to the idea that I need to redline this fucker in 6th. At least just once. I've even identified the least suicidal stretch of road in my neck of the woods to achieve this mark. So far, after careful consideration, you can just call me a pussy if you'd like. Because my current thoughts are, at the end of the day, what do we really have to prove to anyone? I think I'll just ride in my comfort zone and continue to roll off the incredible throttle whenever the fun/comfort meter starts to head south.

It's still pretty damn fast.

You said a mouthful of truth Su! If the feeling isn't there, its not worth pursuing to prove something! I find myself up there and when I run out fifth and grab sixth and she is still pulling...
For me it's a sirens song, she calls me up there, the world goes kinda quiet and still, all is melted to smears of color, impressions only of what I know them to be...
Then...
It's over. Back to normal speed. Back to ho hum. Back to the world everyone else sees. Some have told me I sound like the little devil on their shoulder. I never want to be that for anyone. But. This world is a slow place. The velocity for me is as a key element as the carve. The lean. The torque. The acceleration. The deeper top end violent rush. The velocity. The melt. The brake. The waggle(I love the waggle). The turn. Then the stop.

Su, Blast, Green, Dave, Bean, Fat,Sweet, Caroobs, and Dogo
Did not know the 200mph club, (or 300km club here) had a bench so deep...

So here are some take aways.
1) Arai, a must wear! No more ZOX bull shit
2) Lay my head on the tank and position myself father back, to see through or use the windscreen
3) If I move to a double bubble, get one that vents the airflow, away from rider
4) Find lots of real estate to stretch out...

PS, if I go, and leave this earth, I hope it shall be in the pursuit of what I love...
That said, I am learning to slow down, and pick my spots...

PEACE Boyz and Thank you!
W

Wolfman speaks thusly:
"Of course this completely "hypothetical" but when one experiences so much helmet buffeting at 300 km that they have difficulty reading gages or seeing up front to determine which lane cars are in, is it:
1) time for a new helmet
2) time for a new "double bubble wind screen
3) time to slow down...
4) any suggestions?
"Hypothetically" the rider is in full tuck and riding with a stock shaped zero grave windscreen."

Please excuse a slo-poke like me for butting in (ton and a half to 1.6 ton has been my limit); but, in the above initial inquiry, I see a problem and a guarantee of success.

To wit: what's with the presence of "cars in lanes"? Damn! They got no business being on your stretch of roadway unless they are Bugatti's or such!

Secondly: if you really have a "no grave windscreen"; then I'd say you have it made in the shade, bro!! Where can I get me one of those? Might allow me to hold the throttle past the quarter mile traps, LOL.

Cheeers,

All true enough! I've only been to the enth degree (topped out) a few times (often extremely close) but as others have explained, I explain as the daring little giggle you'd get when standing in a phone booth with a gorilla and poking him in the eye. Sometimes it feels like you just HAVE to do it, just to see, and to experience that little giggle when you get away with it.
I'd be giving the roads with cars on them a real wide berth though bro. You'd go past them AWFULLY fast at top note, and I know what cars do to riders at city speeds.
