Thanks scottjkyl; I'm not that concerned with the cowl fitting - more with lowering the seat height a bit and increasing the comfort level for the passenger. She's slides into me a bit with the stock seat and apparently it's like a brick back there so looking for the best upgrade I can get in budget. I've read a lot of good things about Sargent seats so I'll probably pick one up soon.

i only got about 10 min of seat time on it b4 winter hit so i can't comment on how comfortable it is. I didn't get the low seat. Now if you wanna get something really cheap until you get your sergeant pick up a tribe seat cover , my wife loves it she don't slide forward or backwards any more. cost is around $20 and very easy install

Nice, I just logged in to ask if anyone has a Sargeant seat on their 14. I've had 6 or so Corbins in my life and the last couple have been disappointing. I've always heard good things about Sargeant.

Anyone have a pile of miles on the ZX14 Sargeant? If wonder if the 2012 is interchangeable with the older ones? That's a good price on Revzilla.

Hey ya ErikR,

Yeah we considered a connie seat - but I think we might go with the Sargent due to the lowering of the seat height we can obtain from switching out.

RE: Question about seat replacement

I have 4 seats for my 07 ZX14.

Stock: Sitting on the shelf but still in great shape.

C14: Has the Spencer gel mod. Comfy and great for a passenger. *might sell this*

Corbin: Sits lower and looks great with the rear cowl.

Sargent: Most comfy. Easy 500 mile days.

One thing I found out. The stock and C14 seat simply swap on both vehicles (I also have a 2010 C14) by changing brackets. The Sargent made for the ZX will not work on the C14. With that said, I bought a Sargent made specifically for the C14.

Hope this helps.

JJ do you know what the difference is between the Sargent made for the C14 and the ZX?

I have a C14 seat on the ZX and was thinking about the Spencer treatment but always open to comments.

Thanks -- Bobby

Bobby,

Using the stock seat on the ZX as a reference, if I was to take off the brackets from the ZX seat, I could easily bolt them on to a C14 seat to make the C14 seat fit the ZX.

Now, using the same thought process, I could not unbolt the brackets from the ZX / Sargent to put on the C14 because the nuts that hold the bolts in, are under the foam of the Sargent... meaning the foam would need to be pulled back.

I can't sew a button on a shirt, let alone fix a seat! ;)

Hope this helps.

Thanks JJ, I did not know what was different with the Sargent vrs the Connie/ZX bolt ups.

I had a Sargent on my ZRX and it was a flimsy at best. I loved the looks but it was not as comfy as the Corbin which looks like a tracter seat on the ZRX. Guess I am gonna need to get out more and try to find the 14 crowd and see what they are using for butt cushions.

Thanks -- Bobby

The OEM seat is the lightest seat you can get. Corbin and Sargent are both gonna weigh al lot more.

"Corbin Seat --Forum post- the Corbin (12.2lbs) is actually almost twice as heavy as the stock seat (6.7lbs)!"

here is my fav:

still 4 lbs heavier than stock. HTF do they make seats so heavy?

"Saddlemen shipping weight is 10.1 pounds

----------------------------------------------------------
The weight of this seat is approximately 10 pounds.

Thank you and have a great day!

Please tell me the weight of this product (not including packaging and shipping materials, if that is possible).  I am trying to determine how much weight will be added to the bike by switching to this seat.

thanks"

carve a stocker down and maybe cut the whole passenger area off. I know that will not help your passenger needs but for weight savings can't beat that. That's how I would make a race seat for the 14. with stock plastics on tail.

Well I received my new seat (Sargent) from Revzilla yesterday afternoon. I didn't gain as much as I had hoped within the lowering aspect - just > < that much from being totally flat footed on level pavement - so it was a slight improvement. The comfort level however - wow. Completely changed the feel of the bike, no more excess movement etc. just fits like a glove. I was really impressed with the level of quality - this was my first aftermarket seat on any bike, so I was a bit unsure of what to expect. It was definitely worth the price in my opinion.

https://www.denniskirk.com/saddlemen/tech-one-piece-seat-w-memory-foam-comfort-pads.p457218.prd/457218.sku

I've been wondering about these Saddlemen seats...the link doesn't specify what model it is for and the Saddlemen site only shows seats available for the ZX10R and 6R.

Does anyone actually have one of these on their 14?

Cheers,
Rob
