GPS Help
03/19/11 9:35 PM

I'm trying to figure out what model I have so I can buy the correct mounting kit. I have a Garmin Nuvi, but am not sure what model it is. It looks like a Garmin Nuvi 3790, but I know that's not the correct model.
The exact measurements are, 2 5/16" X 4 3/8" X 5/8" thick. Could anyone please measure there GPS and tell me if this matches there model number? The 3790 advertises a 4.3 wide screen but I'm not sure if this is mine.
Please help!

Garmin GPS are pretty easy to get mounts for, Garmin sells them.

Did you buy this new, or second-hand. If new, you go to www.garmin.com and register it. That will tell you exactly what model it is.

It is hard to explain the Garmin MyGarmin website. I plug my Zumo into USB, go to MyGarmin website, and it knows which of my products is hooked to the computer. So I can download map updates, or firmware updates, etc.

The question is, is your Nuvi one of the new ones that is made for motorcycles? If not, Garmin won't make a mount for it except for in a car. Example, my Zumo came with car mount AND motorcycle mount, including a wiring harness.

If your Nuvi is not a motorcycle GPS, places like Amazon.com and Twisted Throttle and of course, Google, can find you mounts that include a clear plastic case you can put the Nuvi in so it doesn't get wet.
