I wanna purchase a custom seat.. but i want it to be comfortable as hell but also fit Madonna nicely and i wanna still be able to put the rear seat cowl on (of course wifey likes the seat cowl on wheneva she isnt on the back.. lol). Any suggestions?? thx.

Nitti - what height and weight are you if you don't mind me asking? I'm interested in a custom seat also, but I'm on the small side and I always sit myself as far forward as close to the tank as I can go without squashing the jewels.

Not the best scenario for an upholsterer since the meat of the seat is at the rear. But I can't sit back there, it's all the way forward all the time. Rough life being a little guy! Have you heard of Rick Meyer? Or that guy on the east coast...can't remember his name, used to be big into the busas and has made a 14R seat I saw before..

Mine is the first zx14 seat he has done. But he has a ton of experience with upholstery work. I'll let y'all know how it turned out once I get it back sometime this week.

You can get a Connie seat...reshape...take about an inch off the center area bowl....and feel a really nice seating 'inside' the bike.I made one for my 07...it really felt good...I'm 175...so if you're heavier,it may not feel quite so soft...but you could try it...if ya have the extra time and cash to buy a used connie seat...just a thought there.You'd need to reshape the rear pillion to get the cowl to fit also...but it's very doable.Might save ya several hundred dollars.

Bradley427 dont mind at all.. im on the tall thinner side.. im 6'7 220 give or take a pound or 2. So i definitely sit toward the rear of the seat unless im ridiing someone then i just back as far as i can.

Who's ass did they design this seat for? I did't like the feeling of sliding back on the seat. I like sitting down, and into the bike. It helps with the knees when cruising. I'm 6'4" 185.

There is only so much you can shave off of the padding before you hit the frame. The frame can be ground down a little. Mine is probably as low as you can go without sitting directly on the frame. Its firm, but your ass and inner thighs get used to it.

I bought mine pre-owned. It was used for advertisement (hence the logo).

Fatsix I've seen that seat before, very cool looking. I would want to add an inch or more to the base foam to actually have some cushion there and move the rear up-swept bump forward slightly to hold my small skinny butt in the right location. The more I read up on the aftermarket off-the-shelf seats ($500+) I start to think that a custom seat is a far better value than we initially think.

Absolutely. The problem with the off the shelf seats is the inconsistencies in the pan. They don't fit the body work properly. Each custom shop has their standard shaved seat. Unless you are local to a shop and can stop by and have them tweak it to you, your more or less going to get the standard cuts. + or - padding.

You can always take off the cover and shape the initial contour yourself, then have it re upholstered.

My seat is a drag/racing setup. The padding from the seating area, was relocated to the area behind your butt to build a hump to keep from sliding out the back.

It feels infinitely better than the stocker. Long rides took a little bit getting used to.

If anyone is local to me and wants to stop by and try my seat on their bike, I'd be willing to do that to help you get an idea. I'd also be willing to loan you my stock seat until yours gets back from the upholsterer.

These guys do awesome stuff. There's no 14 or 14R kits available on their site. But, if you are local (San Jacinto, CA), I bet they'd love to use your bike for a template. Might even give you a free kit.

I have one on my Husky TE630 and it rocks. I took a 2500 mile trip on a dirtbike with their seat and I was comfortable the entire trip. I'd buy one in a heartbeat if they had a kit for my 14R.

I put the cover on and forgot all about it. I think there was a strip added down the middle. Do you want me to ride you around on the back so you can test it? Hahahha, that would look so wrong.

Here's some info on the dudes work, that did mine. He now has a pattern for the zx14 to work from after doing my seat, so if you just want only a seat cover he can stitch up what you want without having to send in your seat.
