Brock/Guhl VS. CBLasted
06/13/14 9:32 AM

Was wondering if anyone has had a chance to do a recent dyno comparison of the Brock/Guhl ECU Reflash vs. the newer CBLasted ECU Flash?

Several of us have already spent $400.00 for Don to improve the stock ECU, and am wondering if it is really worth doing another big expenditure or investment to have the CBLasted version installed?

Those who have gone from Guhl to CBlasted......is the difference what you feel in acceleration, smoothness, or measured HP on a real dyno readout?

I had my 2012 Guhl Flashed...brock's full system. Also PC5 with Brock's 'stupid fast' mapping.I wasn't really too impressed...to be honest.Always felt like it had more in it(the bike).Went with C's flash on my 2013 ABS ninja....a world of difference.I would have to say...for a street machine...my bike performs way above my expectations....totally happy.I don't know if Brock's/Guhl's flash then was supposed to be for streetability...or the drags. But it didn't perform all that different from stock...seriously.The powerband was ....lacking IMO.

The C flash has no issues at all.Smooth as can be...and power everywhere...and I mean....dangerously so if one's not being 'careful'....yet it is totally streetable...and docile when you want it to be.But when you want that punch...that acceleration..that full pull of HP and torque...it's there...right now...all the way to 12.5.Mine has been to 12.5....in 6th.You probably won't spend much time in 6th at that rpm...but anything lower(mph wise)...you're gonna get the ride of your life....This upgrade is a must do for your ninja....;)No PC....just the flash....you won't regret it....I've had Ivan's flash...Guhl's flash...nothing like C's....you can spend your cash going from this one to that one...the C flash is IMO THE top mod....

No dyno runs here....no need. She runs awesome for me....that's all I care about from my bike.I may get er dynoed down at sea level just to see...but it's NOT a priority for me.She's running great...best I ever had;)

Well no dyno run here (yet) either, but like Grn said, I really don't need too, but will at some point ...

I had the Guhl flash, the first time I took off, I thought I felt a low end response, BUT I did Not feel
That after that point, could it be the "safety mode" kicked back in ? I don't know, and I don't want to
Argue with anyone that the ECU could go back to the safety mode if all the perimeters of the flash were not
Done correctly, but I for one believe that they safety mode could kick back in ...

Anyways, I got Cblast to flash my ECU, let me tell you, I saw a major difference ....
The bike seems to have power and torque EVERYWHERE ! And the front end starts dancing in second with just
Roll ons, no hard jabs, just roll ons, third feels like second, etc ..

And as soon as I started it up, it was smoother, right off the bat, and it stays smooth through the whole
Powerband .....

Guhl seems like a nice man, I have talked to him, and of course he has knowledge, but I don't believe he understand
The advanced math and numbers inside the ECU like Cblast does ....

And yes Sebastian is a very good friend of mine, but I am not just trying to prop up his flash because I am his friend, I am telling this because I believe it to be true, and that is what I strive for in everything, truth

I really think that you will be pleased with his flash, just my honest opinion, not trying to dog other people, just trying to reveal what I have witnessed ...

LOL!!!...anyway...Kofla...I missed telling you...that drift mic does not come with a small powerpack...it won't work just jumping it to the GoPro usb plug....sorry...I made the mistake of buying the drift(just rec'd it yesterday)....it won't work even with the usb adapter(got that yesterday also). You have to get a mic that has it's own small battery inline....Then the adapter will work okay.I ordered one from....geez...no return e-mail yet...but anyway...it's 'called' a lavalier mic...I think...google that...you'll fine it.Has a small battery goes in this inline canister....small...that powers the mic....the cam does the rest.Hope this helps..."East Coast Photo"...that's where I ordered it from.24.00 dollars.

Grn, I just received the microphone this morning. Got the Audio Technica Lavalier ATR3350 microphone. I'll be posting a short video tomorrow to see how it sounds.

Grn14, how long ago did you have Ivan's flash?
Just wanted to see if it was when Guhl was still doing his flashes....

the Cblast flash sounds awesome the way is talking about it...which gets me interested...

But no flash actually increases "peak" output, correct ?

Only brings your torque on earlier and smoother?

Ivan's new flash gets 3-4 peak and Guhls flash gets the around 3 peak,Cblast's flash gets hp up top as well

"I'll be posting a short video tomorrow to see how it sounds"...I found it worked 'best' with the mic attached to the bottom front of the Jacket I wear.Virtually no wind noise right there...but you try some other places....let me know your findings;)Glad you got that Audio Technica 3350.That's a very good mic.

"Grn14, how long ago did you have Ivan's flash?
Just wanted to see if it was when Guhl was still doing his flashes"....yes they were all doing the flashes at that time....I'd say well over a year ago...maybe two.

One of the big 'selling points'(from Guhl and Ivan) was the disablement of the safety mapping at midrange.....I honestly didn't feel any difference from stock midrange performance...it pulled possibly a bit more, but not much over stock, sorry to say.I'm sure IF it is there NOW-it's been disabled by C....I CAN definitely feel a big difference in straight on pulling(or any throttle adding at all). The stock mapping didn't feel like this at all.Whether that was a 'safety' mapping deal....IDK.It may have been.C has mapped mine with the ram air input mapped in.I don't think the others worked with that facet of the ecu programming.Could make a big difference?I know mine performs like night and day over stock;)

I would imagine his NOW flashes are upgraded....it's all a learning thing anyway. One does it one way....another...his way.S'all good.I personally feel C's is the best out there...possibly in the whole US.Brock was going with what he knew then....lots has changed since then.He gets props for sure...they all do.I do believe C is now leading this flash deal.....honestly.It's that good.I can't say about HP...except his showed a huge increase...and top MPH as well. It's the rideability factor that means the most to me anyway.I could honestly care less about HP gains or whatever. She rides like a dream now....THAT's what matters to me.Up here...going top end is something I've backed up on doing pretty much.Only when I feel conditions(wind, temps)are right...then I might make a top end run...but everything else in between is awesome...that's where I live anyway. In between.I will say...at full top speed and rpms...this bike has NEVER felt so darn smooth.....there's NO vibration at all.I was VERY surprised to find that;)Happily surprised.C did it....he got her right;)

Gonna GPS her next top run....see what she does. The speedo isn't accurate...off by a few mph(and will ONLY top out at a certain position on the dial...so I've heard.Good enough for matching speed limits...but that's it.Even so....I don't do much riding at 190LOL!!!And ALL my Ninjas have hit the 190 mark on the dial...so.....that means something...I truly believe she's going faster than 190 indicated. The smoothness at that speed may just be a real indicator that the aerodynamics are really kicking in up there...and she's travelling into a 'design' groove that one might not get to at 190 or 187.Just my opinion. You CAN feel these aerodynamics at different speeds...I can anyway.

I don't doubt your testimony, Montana. You've had more than one aftermarket manufacturers offering on and in your scooter. And given each a thorough shake-down.

I'm curious how an ultimate performance powerhouse like Brick's tolerates having an alleged inferior component compared to an enterprising individual with vastly less financial reserves and R&D equipment at his disposal.

I don't have brocks or cblast flash.. But had a friend do mine and all I can say is DaYUUUUMMM!!
The bike just pulls like nothing I felt before! And it doesn't stop from idle to 12k rpm!!!

I don't have the funds to test the flashes or I would!
But I do know my bike is running stronger and cleaner ..
All my other brocks tuned exhaust/map ran rich leaving a filthy carbon film in the exhaust and now I have perfectly clean (very minor carbon film) exhaust tips!!
